Making some progress (with pics)...

Post by qwertyd10n »

Hey guys and gals,

I've been trying to get the interior finished up as best possible before I continue on with my transmission and transfer case swap, and especially before I dive into building my 445 stroker.

So, I took down the headliner and applied a sound deadener called B-Quiet - the stuff is awesome to work with BTW:

Here's what my doors looked like:

I treated the inside of the passenger door and applied POR-15 to it:

Once that was dry, I installed B-Quiet sound deadener:

Then I installed the new window channel, door run, anti-rattler, and vent window rubber (I had also repainted the vent window frame):

I then installed the new door panel and arm rest:

And finally I finished it off by installing the map pocket:

Now I just have to put the new door rubber on it and the passenger side is done... if only I didn't have to do the driver's side now!

Cheers,
Dion

Man, those doors should have that "bank vault" sound when you close them!!

Man, that sound deadener looks great. I've been using Dynamat, but it's big $$$$. How's the price on the B-Quiet and where do you get it?

Thanks guys... the doors definitely are a little more solid feeling and sounding now. :D

When I was looking for sound deadener, all I knew about was Dynamat because that's all you ever see on any car shows. I did some research on the internet and B-Quiet looks to be a comparable product - maybe even better according to tests done.

I found it on their web site, http://www.b-quiet.com, and just ordered it over the internet. I got a couple 50' rolls because I'm doing the roof, doors, firewall, floor, and likely the inside of the back of the cab.

I bought the B-Quiet Ultimate product, which is $120 for 50' roll if you buy more than one. Not super cheap, but compare what a similar amount of Dynamat would cost - OUCH! They also have a slightly lesser product called B-Quiet Extreme for about $70 for a 50' roll.

Cheers,
Dion

Oh yeah, one other thing... this company is actually based in Lethbridge, Alberta - just a couple hours down the road from me and pretty much in Johnny Canuck's backyard!

I know of a couple others that have used this material, and they have been quite happy with the product. I was also looking at using it when I get that far.

Looking good Dion. :thumright:

I was going to say the same thing. Putting the deadner in the doors make them sound solid when you close the door. I did the same to my 56, it sounds like a Lincoln when you close the door.

Hey all,

Well, I got a few things done this weekend. I pulled the gas tank and put B-Quiet Ultimate up the back of the cab:

Then I reinstalled the gas tank afterwards.

I cleaned up the transmission cover, painted it, and then covered it with the sound deadener as well. And I also removed the passenger door so I can install the new DC weatherstripping on it properly.

And this afternoon I managed to get my old transfer case onto the floor... now to figure out how to get the transmission down.

Good day all,

I made some progress on the interior over the last few days and here are some shots to prove it...

B-Quiet Ultimate sound deadener covering the entire floor:

The new ACC carpet installed:

My custom (re: home) made shift boot bezels:

And finally a couple shots of the redone seat with the new carpet:

I think the interior is really coming together... I like the way everything ties together.

Nice job!
Really like the custom shift boot bezels!
How was the carpet to install? did it fit like they claim - without trimming, etc?

Thanks!

Yeah, the only trimming I had to do was so it would clear the steering column... I just notched it out a little. Otherwise it fit right in and then I just had to punch holes for the seat and seat belt mounts.
