HELP Axle pivot bushings
HELP Axle pivot bushings
I'm trying to put axle pivot bushings in my truck and I can't get them to go in strait. I used a balljoint press it got the old one out fine but I can't get the new one it strait it just binds up.
Those suckers are tricky. I used an althread rod that would fit thru it, and pulled the bushings in with large washers. Problem I ran into was the bushing sticks thru and I have to find a bearingg race that out fit over the metal of the bushing so it would presson thru the i-beam.Not easy to keep center up. I'm not certain but I think I welded a washer to watever I used. Could have bee a little section of pipe I squashed to make oval, and di this all with an impact. Rough on the althread though.

What kind of bushings are you going with? Rubber or Poly?
You really need to use a little bit of grease on a poly bushing to keep it from squeaking. Also helps things go together much easier.
