Rusted 64 Project - Completed!

Hello all,

Here are some before pics of my rusted 64 project. This will probably take a while, but it will be intereting.

I have seen several projects with similar starting points, so I have a better feeling about it.

Notice how the lines on the cab look to tilt down toward the front.

This should be fun.

looks alot like where I started... the tilt to your cab to the front will be because you can see the cab mounts through the floorpans...

most of all of the rust areas is sold or fairly easy made... I bought some of mine and made others... with time and patience.. it is fixable, but plan on alot of time...

got a pic of the Wildcat??? had a Buick around here a year or so ago that had a wildcat motor in it that sold....

wish I would have had the money.... rumor is it went for less than $1500

Holy...Swiss Cheese...Batman! You are a brave soul.

I am also a fan of the old Buicks. Several years ago I sold a really sweet '65 Skylark. Been kicking myself ever since.

It fixable A lot of work but can be done.
Did you get the new cab off with out dropping it?

I havent made a lot noticeable progress. Mainly stripping the truck of all the small and big things I will be keeping.

Just got the parts back from the machine shop today, including the replacement 292 block ( thanks Kenny for saving my A)
I did sand last the frame. What a task doing it in half a garage space.

Have a bunch of pictures and will plan a night to get them all up.

I am hoping that it will go back together a lot faster than taking it apart, as I have a lot of stuff just waiting to get bolted on. Probably not thou.

Don't count on it rusted64 it usually takes at least 3 times longer to put them back together than take them apart. Thats generally what it takes me and I've done a few in my lifetime. Not trying to discourage you at all just telling you how it works for me.
What I will say is when you are putting all those shiny newly painted parts back together one tends to be a lot more careful with them.

Ok, making some progress now.

Just been slow going with things going here and there to be worked on.

I have it torn down to a rolling piece of metal/rust. All interier, glass, dash, etc are out and in crates.

You can see I have some cleaning to do on the stearing box.

Here is the transmission before.

And after.

I opened the trans cover and all the gears looked great and shifting worked well.

I will have more soon.

Also, thought I would throw in a pic of my Buick. My other project in progress. No where near as much to do. Got the engine done and redoing the interier now.

If he had not bought it it would be mine. It was headed for the crusher and I was waiting on the deadline date.

The best for the price.

Been able to get some help on parts from several people on this website, which makes it helpful.

I think it did. The amount of rust under the truck looked like it was on salted roads for while.

Well, havent made a lot of progress in the last few months, probably because of the constant over 100 degree days, but here is some before and after of the engine.

Notice in the after pics, I have the frame and other parts in the garage. I am hoping to start gaining momentum moving forward with the project.
