New Guy Old Truck (65 F250 4x4)
New Guy Old Truck (65 F250 4x4)
Very new to the truck. Had a crush on it for months, talked the guy out of it over some beers last weekend, bought it yesterday. It's gotta lot of miles on clock and is ratty around the edges but runs great and will get put to plenty of use by me. I look forward to bugging the smart guys around here for help and info.
I have no real plans for it, other than treating it right and keeping it running for the next guy that needs it.
I would like to put more aggressive tires on it, but I don't want to ruin the look by going any wider. Love the skinny look.
1965 F250 4x4 with the 352.
Thanks for having this site, and thanks in advance for any help.
Nice to meet you all!

welcome and cangratulations. good to see another 4x4 being taken care of.
for tires i like 255/85/16 km2's. 33" tall and narrow but have to say your tires look taller than my 33's although not as aggressive tread. what size are your tires?

Hey there NGOT good to see you here. Always nice to see another 4x4 guy keeping one or bringing one of these back from the dead. Just when you think you may have seen the last one another one pops up. Nice color too. If those are 17.5 wheels on yours you might be hard pressed to get tires for them. Anyway goodluck with it and keep us posted with pics on what you are doing to and with it. All the 4x4 guys go

Welcome from Nebraska. As was stated earlier, check your vin on the above link. Your truck is most likely a 1966 model titled as a 1965 that was first registered in 1965. Nice truck!

Welcome to the site.
Re: New Guy Old Truck (65 F250 4x4)
looked up the VIN. it was made in march of 65 in San Jose, and indeed has the 352. The guy I bought it from is a talented chopper builder and car customizer, I wouldn't surprise me if he put that grill on there for one reason or another (he has two other, funkier slicks behind his barn). It does seem to be in a bit better shape then most of the exterior.
What wheels and tires are those, F7BIGJOB? or maybe you have a build thread I should read.
And hello to R.I! I went to RISD in the 90's and go back and visit a bit.
Anyone know what this well-worn 352 should run at, oil pressure-wise? It has a gauge on the dash and hot idle is about 10 and 50mph it's maybe 16.
I'll put some more pics up this weekend.
