time for a new 4x4

Post by ICEMAN6166 »

i now am going to need a bigger 4x4 with huge tires. needs to be a fairly fast assembly/build.

62 f350 cab and bed going on 61 f500 frame (156" wb)
marmon harrington axles t case and underdrive already on f500 frame
was just going to use the f350s bed but its cab is fully assembled and minimal rust so for time and because the f500 cab is just setting on the frame i have decided to use the cab too.
12K pto winch in the bed of the f350

not sure if im going to use the spare 292 i have or drop in the 223 i rebuilt for the uni.

will have the front clip from the f500

after i remove the f350 cab from the frame im going to cut the f350 frame and stack the bed with the frame on top of the f500 frame

tires will be 15.50 x20 14 ply DC3 aircraft
with the 4 speed trans, 2 speed tcase and underdrive will have 16 forward and 4 reverse speeds

Sounds like a neat setup!
When I saw the title of the post, I thought maybe you had succumbed to the Ecoboost bug that seems to be going around!
That's kinda what I have in mind for the Holmes; put the bed and winches on a larger F or C-series, or even an old Louisville!
Then I can make a F-350 dually pickup! All in time

As much as I love the old trucks, If this is a bug...I'd be glad to catch it

With the 223 and 16 forward gears should be able to out run it on your knees, lol.
You could probably drag KC up to Alaska though,
on second thought - drag DC to another country.

What are you using it for?
going to need it to get in/out to the place we are moving to during the muddy seasons and will need something bigger than an f350 4x4 to plow in the winter. road in is only partly graveled and there are some boggy spots at times.

guess i will end up with 2 4x4s 8)

had this one ,62 f100 4x4

Image

rusty cab, rotten bed and dead y removed last year
today i put the cab from the f500 and a long flareside bed on it. 2 bolts in the cab and 2 in the bed to hold it together for moving purposes till i get around to working on it again. lot easier to move whole trucks than lots of loose pieces. i got a y for it too i need to set in place.
