The owner is not the one representing it as a clone. It's B-J who are the fail.

Wasn't implying anything, just there are a few of us who know the original and have a personal relationship with the truck and the owner who reside prob. 20 mins. from my house. You're right that thing would be welcome at slick stock or any get together, but so would any slick even if it looked like you just dragged it out of the field. We just happen to know the behind story of that truck, how it was forgotten in the barn, a renewed interest, us pushing it out and clean years of dust, and a few cats (If you were there you would know what that meant AKA Bill S and Wayne K.) There were alot of things on that truck before their time. That new truck is cool, but the original has a cooler meaning with me. Anyway we're all slick lovers they are all cool in my opinion.

Tom. when Bill (the owner) whispered the amount that Barrett -Jackson was guaranteeing him, I tell you , you and I would -NOT- have passed it up.
Think of the prices the other one-offs like the Oldsmoblie Corvette and other prototypes have got there.
But, we have not owned it for almost 50 years. either.
That would make you a lot more stubborn.

Hey Bobbyford, I think you done stuck your finger in a hornets nest here. Us guys that sat in it and listened to the stories that came with it will stand behind the XL all the way. Hope you get to see the original someday and hear the doors slam as if it were still brand new. It is an amazing truck. As for the clone? It's just a drag truck someone painted to match a ledgend. Kinda like an Elvis impersonater or something like that :) They spent a lot of money and time and did a nice job.
So my question is, Did the clone sell yet? If so, How much.

like a lot over on this side have seen the original :) :) as well more than once in person and its a great feeling to see it, clone is ok just ok, But clone still looks good lot of detail,, too bad they missed several items but its like them making a Tawain Part NOT JUST THE SAME....

THIS Is how I see how the price will go, depends on how BJ describes it, if they DO NOT Mention its a clone price I would say 55,000 and then that will bring more clones out,,, If they mention its a clone price around 28,000 to 31,000,, BUT after auction is over if mentioning thats its a clone, serious people will be hunting for original with deeeeeep pockets,, wll we will just have to see

Not sure how that would work, I went to the auction last year (2012) in palm beach, watched a ton of cars and trucks being sold the first two days, that I don't think they (the owners) made their money back on, Never saw anybody bidding on stuff that didn't eventualy buy something.Might have some shill bidders but sure not obvious , B.J. get a sellers commision and a buyers commision, so they make money on the buying and selling i see no need to try and run bids up. Just my veiw.

Hunter do a google on BJ shill bidders. There are to many allegations for some if not all to be true.

DST built the truck, not Ford. For did not commission this truck to be built. It's nothing more than a modified truck from the 60's.

"built by FORD Motor companys expermental racing division"

Kar Kraft built the Boss 429s, Charlie. I dunno if the two shops were related or not. Holman- moody built a boatload of Fords race cars, too and don't forget ol Shel, either. Ford had lots a help in them days it seems.
