I'm just about ready to crank my new drive train over and head that way. Like Scarlet Ohara this year I'm depending on the kindness of strangers. A buddy has assured me I can have one of his spaces he just isn't sure which one. OK still no entrance sticker. Another buddy was glad to have me to share his hotel bill, I don't even know which hotel. That stuff doesn't even bother me. My concern is all about the drive. Good Guys or NSRA, one or the other's motto is "you've got to drive them" Two weeks ago I started putting '79 power steering in ole Shoestring. Next I switched the gears 3:25 to 1 out and 3:00 to 1 in. A C6 that had been excess for several years went to local tranny shop for rebuild. The old 352 out of String had sat under a work bench for twenty years. It is now bored and stroked using stock 390 pieces. Have I heard it run yet, Hell no! Am I worried? Enough that when I leave town Thursday I'll have my trailer hooked on the '95 Lightning, tank full, tires all checked, just in case it's called in to stretcher duty . When I cross the Red River I'll stop worrying. It's been a good number years sense I've had a burger and fries at the Star Cafe in the Ft Worth Stock Yards. Thurs night, Murphy willing, Shoestring will be sitting out front of the Star on Exchange Ave. Ft Worth was my sales territoy, and home (the 80s) when I bought this white '66 SW. All you Texans pack your boots, Ft Worth is a fun town.

Looks as if I'm going to be a no-show! I will be cancelling my room reservation at Best Western Roanoke, so if someone needs a room there (they're sold out), let me know. I'm sure the desk will gladly make the room available quickly after I notify them of my cancellation. I really regret this necessity; I'm sure I will regret it even more once the tales make it back to town!

Well I will also be a no show. Haven't missed a Pate event since my first in 2009. I have two spaces in the Slick 60's compound if anyone is interested -- for this year only. I'll be back next year. $35 each (what I paid). PM me or gritsngumbo@comcast.net and we'll work out the details.

No Grits and Toys? What a bummer! Hate to see that happen.
Pack Rat and Truck Rat will be in attendance and are looking forward to seeing
everybody. Hope all of you have a safe trip down and if there are any early arrivals
look for us at our spaces. TR

Will certainly miss being there Gary. Someone else will have to take a picture of Lyman napping this year. It's become a tradition. :-)

No interest in the spots? Wow! They used to be a "hot ticket", guess the expansion Chris was able to score took care of the demand.

Gerald, looks like there will be 4 spaces up for grabs with you and Paul missing out.
I wouldn't be surprised if somebody wants them even if you don't hear from anyone.
Sometimes it doesn't happen until people show up and find out they are available.
If I can I will watch and see if Lyman nods off while I am "chillin out" and grab a
good photo op. Hee hee! Take care my friend. TR

Paul,
From the information I've been given the best deals better be at Ave 7 space 787 or in the space directly behind that space. My Marching Orders are to sell a few items down there to help offset recent expences. A couple of '65 aluminum grills, a couple of pairs of Custom Cab
plastic door panels, and '66 Radios, Etc Etc. Stuff we moved 13 years ago when we built our house. Really, really needed it because it has never been un-packed. Friday & Saturday sales will be brisk!

Gerald, hope to see you next year. Guess we'll have some new neighbors this year, I think we've set up next to Gerald for the last four or five years.

Looking forward to seeing everyone else this weekend.
