Before and after pictures of my headlight relay install. Low beams in both shots. Really brought out the white light.

I am "in the dark" on this modification. What is this relay?

Re: Before and After
Basically you use your 50 year old light switch to control 12v power directly from the battery to the lights. Headlight switch turns on the relay (low amperage easy work for the light and dimmer switch) which provides a strong 12v power from the battery. Relays do all the work and are located near the battery and use a heaver gauge wire to power the lights. Bigger wires, near the battery = brighter lights. One of the Members here builds and sells a nice kit to do this work. You can easily build your own. I will stick a relay in a 50 year old circuit in a heart beat.

Did the same to mine last Month. Really made a big difference. Got the lights and relay from LMC. Just something to do while waiting for warm weather to paint and re-assemble.

Yeah , this is something every single member should do if they are still running the original setup. Its like your eyes are 30 years younger when driving in the dark !
Re: Before and After
X2! Also reduces the risk of tripping headlight circuit breakers or worse, a fire as all the electrical load for the headlights is kept under the bonnet.
When you do the relay for both low and high beam, you can run a diode from the high beam back to the low beam trigger on the relay itself, this gives you BOTH high and low beams at once when you press the dip switch.
