Anybody Know this Truck?

Post by stronger66ratfink »

I'm just weighing my options if the 66 deal does not work out

not real crazy about the seats?
maybe because I'm concerned about the room!

I agree. For "You Could Not Build This Truck For Twice This Price" it's lacking in a lot of areas. For his implied 37k worth of work, the interior is terrible, it's a mess under the hood, the bed also doesn't work for me.
I think you could build it for quite a bit less than his asking price, let alone double.

I wouldn't give $8500, much less $18500. While I imagine somebody spent a lot of money and time putting that together, it looks poorly done, or just done by somebody without a great deal of taste. As mentioned, slap-dash bed, incongruent interior, and a crowded and clumsy engine compartment.

I'm but one person and it's only an opinion, but I think it's ugly and it looks like an amateur job. For that kind of asking price, you could find something clean and bone stock, or clean and nicely modified--and both would be done by a professional.

On a positive note, I like the bed and fuel-tank if it was a four-wheel drive, or a truck one would use for work.

While these trucks certainly hold their value and seem to be appreciating, $18K is nearing the top end of the price spectrum, big-dollar outliers not withstanding.
Working on a '66 F100 with a '71 240 and the original three-on-the-tree...

I have looked at the knobs with no white inserts,,, what's the 2 push buttons by the speedometer for ?,, also showing the pass cab mount and something does not look right there ? it looks like a bead of weld by the rubber cushion... , ads says cannot build one for that price  ,, I could come close by first buying a rust free short bed truck that will not have to do all kinds of welding which will be tough to find, wrecked car and then time putting together, and by the time I finished I would have the white inserts in the knobs, the inside of the bed would look nice, better looking wheels and seats would have go,, I am with Oregoon my first thought would be take the 1 off to leave it at 8500.00, first thing I scrap is the bed cause they put all that diamond plate junk in to cover the rusted out bed and if they did that then how much more is like that any way my :2cents: of the day

In listing: Condition: RESTORED

????? Apparently RESTORED doesn't mean what he thinks it means. But maybe I just wasn't aware you could get a 428 in a 66 F-100.

NOW That truck looks a lot better done,, some of what is in the listing like this DUAL BOLT PATTERNS ON BLOCK MOTOR MOUNTS ?? , early FE Motors only have 1 bolt on side of the engine, later ones have 2 bolts on each side but not sure in what year that changed But I would assume if it was a true 428 that should have had 2 on each side still on all,,,,,, truck is not worth 65,000.00, cause all your paying for is the price of somebody's labor to say weld in floor pans etc.. that might have had to be done to it

 saw this after , Wrong Front Bumper as well, front seat been cut for floor shifter,

That has been discussed (and dissed) here before, I believe!

For the price of a starter truck this one on E-bay looks like a good start, Item # 331216528423 being a short bed,, only thing before I would commit is to see if he had any pics of cab mounts, floor pans etc... and could spend say less money and have a better looking truck than the old diamond steel bed floor trick truck

The red truck also had in the text ''boxed frame''. Never saw an area
in the pics that it was boxed. Looked like a stock channel frame to me.

And the ''Police'' truck is a nice one, but not worth anywhere near what
they have it priced for. The guy did a nice job on it, but is drunk :burp: or
high nuts.gif if he thinks he'll get anyone to pay that kind of money. TR

I was going to offer him 23!
but he might be a X-cop or a cop
and get offended!
he's in the same state so got to be careful on how you tell him
he's looking at all of his receipts over the past 20 years!
and not the value of the truck!

same as my guy with Miss Daisy,
still playing with the Fox body crowd!
they see their buddies car all faded, worn and moded out and
think mine should go for about the same price!

I will wait and keep the "fire burning down below"
and no there is not any kind of "Cream" for my ailment of
burning desire!
