Fresh y-block/3speed manual combo value?

Post by td »

Hey slick fans, I'm posting this in attempt to gain an idea what a motor and trans I have in a project truck is worth. I'm fixing to post a for sale add on CL and being that I'm new to yblocks I honestly don't know what it might be worth. It's a fresh built 30 over 292, (NO SMOKE, NO NOISES, NO LEAKS)
the truck has not been registered for the road since the build so there is virtually no miles on the overhaul just minimal idle time. It's currently in the truck with the manual 3 speed and operable so I could possibly let a potential buyer here it run. Although I may pull it out soon. Any knowledge shared on a ball park value the combo has will be graciously appreciated! I'm including a couple of pics of the engine.

If you have paper work showing what you put in the motor you might get half that much unless you find someone who needs it not just wants it. I would guess 750. Tom

Did you build it yourself or have it professionally done (or have someone else do it). I'd think a list of the parts used would be helpful to a potential buyer.
If you understand what you’re doing, you’re not learning anything.

The previous owner did all the work and I did get all receipts on parts and machine work and even a few pics of the build.he fizzled out of enthusiasm for the project and never got the truck on the road.

Y blocks are expensive to build and work on. If, you have a list of what has been done, and what is new. then I can give you a better appraisal of it's value. I noticed it has headers, what other upgrades does it have? Are the heads stock for the year? What was done as far as machine work, and what was done for te exhaust valve seats? It is easy to get two three thousand in one of these engines . Would be interested in the engine.

Everything is stock as far as I know and it's pose to be the original engine for the truck, I'll look and see what info is in the rebuild paper work. it runs great and sounds good through the open headers but what v8 dosent lol I've got a craigslist add up and running $850 trades for other ford V8 considered. PM me with interest or inquiries.
