how am i supposed to attach this gear

this is what LMC sent me. theres a clip for the other kind of gear but i don't see any way to attach these. it can't be that i just stick it in the trans and hope it doesn't fall off.

help!

I don't think you have the correct gear for that cable... or vise versa..

That cable looks like it takes the same gear as my falcon does..

The gear you have doesn't look the same as the ones I'm used to seeing.

Yep.

The gear you have looks like the 46 to 63 gear..

But the cable you have should use the gear in the second post.

first time i have seen that early gear in nylon though, all the ones i ever saw were steel.

Mac's sells that gear in nylon.

I'd go get a new gear.. you can order one or hit the wrecking yard and pull a bunch from 70's pickups. You should be able to find about 3 different tooth count gears from the pickups..

problem is it's a 1964 truck and it had the style gear in it when i removed the existing speedometer cable. i had a thread about that too. don't know if it's a 64 trans and a PO installed the wrong type of gear or if it's a 62 trans and it requires that gear. guess i'll just order the newer style gear and see what happens.
