My 65 Crew Cab build progress

Post by rbeck204 »

I posted pictures to a Flickr account. I hope this link works. The truck is almost complete and ready for a test drive. Bed floor repairs just finished last week.

Let me know if you want more info. It's a conversion company modified long bed F100 custom cab that even had door trims cut down to fit the inside of the rear doors. 390 with C6 and 3.25 rear gears. Only rust through area on front edge of hood. Lots of surface rust though.

Was a mismatch of parts when I got it. It took a lot of searching to find good original paint front clip, tailgate and bed floor. I think this represents the true meaning of patina.

Thanks James,
I'm hoping to test drive in the next month. Cross your fingers.

I couldn't figure out how to put them in the sequence of construction but you should be able to figure out the starting point. One year of real work on it. Gotta get it running so it can move to Texas with me!

(I guess the link worked!)

Somehow missed this last week. Looking good!

The bed looks better than mine does. Mine is on its backside in my garage and the truck out in the yard. The bed is a Chinese puzzle box!
The months may change, but I am always APRIL

Wow Richard! I somehow missed it as well.
It looks great, you have done a lot of work on it. How goes the uni paint job?

Sure wish I would have stumbled on to a crew cab 15 years ago ! when I could have pushed thru the project quick, and be driving it now !!

Looks like a great project.
Look forward to seeing more.

Your Crewcab is going to be a great driver Richard. I have wanted one
since I worked on Chris's 65 several years ago. Looks like you started with a
good one and didn't have a lot of issues with the sheetmetal. Never have seen
anyone separate the floor and inner fenders from the bed sides like you did.
That was a first. Moving to Houston will hook you up with a bunch of Slick
members around there. They do a ''Grub With The Club'' every so often and
it would give you a chance to meet a bunch of them. We also get together at
Texas Motor Speedway (See Upcoming Events Section on the forum) in late
April for the Pate Swap Meet just North of Ft. Worth. Great progress on your
truck. Looking forward to seeing more of it. TR

Made more progress this weekend. Finished welding the bed floor in, mounted the bed and wired in the tail lights. Used 72 tail lights so I could have back up lights in the tail light lenses.
Also had the new seat covers installed and put the seats in the truck. They look great. Also bled the brakes with the help of my 75 year old father ( he's in the pictures)

I have an appointment at the muffler shop on the 27th of February. Can't wait for the first test drive.
