His whole show is kinda like watching a train wreck. Can't seen to look away.

Yeah I dunno who is more to blame, the idiot hick that sold it to him or Boyd. he first time he did that, when they had a rod build off in their shop with Stoneface Mike, I near cried. This time, I guess I was number to the pain. No reason for that, at all. Kinda makes me ill.

I've never seen an episode (no cable or satellite) & at this point, I'm glad.

I'd also add whoever made the stupid rule that the race car had to be titled as a '32 to that list too. It's not like there's gonna be even 1/10th of the car left that's original '32 metal anyway.Johnny Canuck wrote:Yeah I dunno who is more to blame, the idiot hick that sold it to him or Boyd.

If it starts to rain, they'll tax the splash.
If you want to fish, they'll tax the bass.
If you plant a yard, they'll tax the grass.
If you don't play nice, they'll fine your *$#!

I can't for the life of me figure how he got such a solid reputation/line up of customers. He reminds me of Ozzy on the old Osbourne's show, just a bumbling fool.
They must edit it to look that way I guess,, and his wife to look like a snarling shrew too, I dunno why Boyd would want the show to continue to be made, after seeing an episode, actually, unless he really is a ninny.
I would say at least 75% of the people I've met at SlickStock, myself excluded, would seem to be better car builders than him.

Did you ever see the build for that '36 Ford coupe that he made a roadster in to? I think it was for Bud or some beer company. He rolled that thing off the trailer and you could see these odd marks in the paint and the headliner hanging down in an otherwise perfect car. Well, turns out it was a musuem car...no kidding. But he had his crew take a sander to the paint and a knife to the headliner to make it look like a beater for TV. That way people would not think he was cutting up some restored car. Apparently a former employee spilled the beans on some forum. Knowing what I know about Boyd, I can only assume it's true.Greg D wrote:On the show tonight, (don't really follow it coulda been a repeat) they started a T as a speed record car. I am guessing this is why they were there?
To my point, Boyd buys what was actually a pretty nice COMPLETE Model T took it apart and then just used the shell & cut it up at that!
OK I AM a Hotrodder, and am basically in the market for some old tin to rod but a nice complete car like that shoulda been restored, period! I believe firmly in old sheetmetal for a rod. The arse shoulda just bought a repop or glass body for what they were doing, woulda also been less work and if it were glass woulda been cheaper - dumbass!
My Slick is rustier than your Slick!
I would love to find an A sedan to make my Rod from. I would NOT however cut up a nice car. I'd rather hand beat out 40% of the body in patch panels than do that. Starting with something that does belong in a junkyard just makes it more of a real Hotrod anyway. My Dad is from that era, start out with a $25 car and make it cool - REAL Hotrodding. I also get he has a buisness to run, been there. To be fair, alot of the stuff he comes up with is truly inspired. I just think he has lost sight of what it's really all about.
Boyd wastes nice stuff and $ - just lazy.
