I bought a new Vintair Air Compac II last October. The dealer said that It should fit fine. My initial thought was to buy the mini but he insisted that hundreds put the Compac II in.
I opened the unit last week to look again at the instructions. It came with these cheap straps which would seem fine but I overthink everything.
I remember that Detroit Speed used a custom tube bracket to mount their A/C units in the early Camaro/Nova/Chevelle so I proceeded to do the same.
I did use part of the rear supplied bracket. I chose several points as mounting points. I used the dash support bracket for one end. I took a trick from I believe 64 Tweetybird and counter sunk a bolt from dash top and made a front support. The right side was supported by the kick panel.
All seemed to work fine allowing room on top for the ducts. What proved an issue is the fact that I welded the glove box in.
TIP: Do this last! It is hard to see inside when it is welded!
I found I had room to put the bulkhead behind the evaporator. Plenty of room.

Thanks for sharing the Vintage Air install! I have the same unit going in my project someday.
