1965 F100 lift kits?

Post by Andy fox »

Hey guys, been put for awhile. After I sold my white '65 f250 which is now living in Hawaii.

When I was a member a few years ago I didn't post or comment much any how. So most of y'all don't know me anyway.

I'm Andy Fox from broken arrow Oklahoma. Licensed electrician. Out of highschool I wanted to be a mechanic but when I got my wife pregnant I took a job that was offering. So I got the hang of it and now do mechanic as a hobby. Which is better anyway if you ask me.
Age of 23 now, with two beautiful girls and a wife.

Now to my truck. This is going to be the family project and not a profit project. So we are wanting to raise the ol lady a few inches. Not able to find any where in the web that sells a kit. Also would a body or suspension lift be more benefitting?

I posted a lift setup that was on a truck I bought on the facebook site, but did not post it here. If you like, I could send you pictures by email. The rear is lifted with blocks and the front has some kind of what I was told were California custom I-beam axles. Won't use it myself so it's for sale. I would say it raises the truck about 4 inches as a guess. If interested PM me with your email address and I will send pics.

UPDATE: Got the truck to run. Leaking antifreeze from rear plugs. Motor is now ready to pull out. Taking hood off today and getting ready to pull.

The guy I bought it from lost the key. It's a factory switch. Will any factory key work? I hate changing out these darn ignition switches

You can drill out the tumbler but it takes patience. Suggest you buy a matching set off Evilbay. These run about 30$ a set, and then you have new keys for ignition and doors. You need the original key to remove the old tumbler or one that will work in place of the original. If you have a locksmith friend he might be able to get it out. If you have to pay one, then I would do the drill out on the tumbler. The stainless cover is the tricky part . The metal under it is mostly pot metal.

Take the cylinder from door and take to locksmith, if nothing has been changed it will fit. Sometime The right door will have key number stamped on it, but not always.

Hi Andy. Good looking truck. Try expanding your search for a lift kit to include up to 72 first and then as far as 79. All 65-79 trucks shared the basic same suspension. 65-72 had the same rear as well. The rear frame on 73-79 is 2" wider, but I would assume a lift kit would work as there wouldn't be anything width related. Drop kits are common. As far as body vs suspension you'll have similar problems regardless. For a body lift, your steering column to steering box connection will need to be adjusted. For the suspension lift, you need to adjust the steering box to steering linkage. You could probably get a little lift up front from going with later model F150 suspension as it will be a little heavier. What are you trying to address with the lift? Just looks or making way for larger tires?

Probably not 4x4, but if you had a 4x2 bronco, it would probably work. The pic you have as a target is a 4x4.
