Need opinions on bench seat design

Post by matt2491 »

I can't decide on a bench seat design, so I photoshopped two options and would love to know what you guys think. The interior of the truck will be painted with the factory two-tone colors, Academy Blue and Wimbledon White. I'm going for a clean, subtle custom look. If neither of these designs look good to you, I'm open to suggestions!

Coooooool!
My vote is on #2 cause I am going to do something similar but with the factory layout.
They both look good tho!

Hi Matt,

I assume the blue and white are both a vinyl type of material?
Of the two choices, I prefer Option #2.

However, I would suggest you consider changing the white portion of the seat to a cloth material and make it a houndstooth or check type of blue/white plaid. Like this: https://www.fabric.com/buy/0416696/prem ... hmere-blue

The cloth insert would be warm to the butt when it was cool outside and cool to the butt when its hot outside. The pattern would not be so obvious to any stains or dirt that may make it in on the seat between cleanings. I did the cloth insert with mine and love it.

Secondly, I would also suggest you ask the upholsterer to use the better foam cushioning.

Just my opinions..... :2cents:

This is something I've been thinking about as well.

I like that you have the blue top and bottom to tie in with the main colour of the cab, which should help keep things from looking too contrasty or busy. I voted #1 since I like that it's a little simpler.

I also like the white piping against the blue vinyl in #2 though, so maybe something to consider would be the layout of option #1, but in all blue with white stitching and piping. That could be cool.

X2 on the last one! But, if you continue adding designs, I reserve the option to change my opinion!

Here's the only reason I'm not a fan of design #3
It looks to much like a 57 chevy hood emblem.

I like all of them. That being said Barnie had a great suggestion.
Cloth is much kinder to the back and butt on cold and warm days.
I have a seatcover which is a combination Vinyl and Velour I am
considering that will go great in my 64. It isn't two tone like yours
but will serve me very well. I think any of your combos will be a nice addition to your truck cab's interior. Really can't pic one. TR

#1 is cool....but the suttle changes in #2 gives it much more character.

I would never copy anybody , but when it comes to this seat, I'd come awful close.... :thumright:

Matt: Have you ever owned a vehicle with a white (or any light colour for that matter) interior?? I had a vehicle with a light interior, have never spent so much time keeping an interior up on anything since!

That white will be a full time job to keep clean, which would be enough of a deterrent for me to find another combo that works, or leave it all blue.

just my $0.02 CDN :)
