64 f100 Patina swb

Post by 64 Patina »

Hello y'all
I've been looking for another project since finishing my 69 Chevelle.
Ended up finding a good deal on a short bed style side 64 f100. Original plan was to do a Patina truck on a lowered stance with whatever engine was already in the truck. Started my list to upgrade the brakes, and components to lower the truck. I was seeing a few Crown Vic front suspension swaps and thought I'll compare the cost of that and the original plan. Found a good front clip for 375 from a wrecking yard. Then seen the width would be wider in the front and seen a few other options about what to do on the rear. While searching about installing a crown Vic rear ended. Then ran across a complete frame swap. I thought that would upgrade the brakes and lower the truck in one shot. So I started looking for a lightly wrecked 04+ Crown Vic. I Ended up winning a auction on a city of Waco 2011 police car that still ran and drove. The car was bought cheaper then I could buy a lowered I beam and front rotors for. Once I figure out how to add pictures I'll post them.

Getting the body off the frame wasn't to bad only bolts I had a hard time with was the gas tank straps and gas vent canister is welded to trunk floor. 2 hidden straps behind the plastic rear bumper.

After setting the body just above the frame to get the cuts in the right area. First thing I did was get the gas tank and vent canister mounted. I wanted it all removable incase the tank ever needs to be removed.

I'm missing bumpers so I went with a rear roll pan. Only problem was it wasn't Patina. I found a way to quickly rust plain metal. A quick vinegar bath 5 minutes or so the spray on hydrogen peroxide. The rust forms nearly instantly. I continued then peroxide spray a couple times a day for 5 days. It's setting in the sun currently letting nature do its thing now. This photo was day 2

Weekend plan is to get the cab rear mounts welded to the frame. I pulled the f100 rear cab mounts off and plan on using them. They look like they will fit nice.

No. It gets a peroxide wash after then after a few days it sets in the sun and rain. I'll do that until it's cleaned up before it gets clear coated.

I cut the old truck mounts from the f100 frame and welded them to the CV frame. I just welded them on where I could reach easily until I lift the body off to finish welding them.

I made some side mirror holders. My wife likes them but I'm not so sure yet.
