Too quiet around here......

Post by slick4x4 »

Seems like less posting going on around here :(
I know Facebook has taken its toll from this site....
I like Facebook ... but way more drama & dip$hites over there....
I noticed it's August .....
Less than 13 months till SlickStock
I planned on having a "good driving" truck there......
Not sure that will happen....
Heck... might even drive the F600.... I like to be a bit weird :burp:
I'm pretty sure I'm gonna get my 2nd knee done this winter...
That takes a LOT of my shop time away
But I will be there...

I'm waiting on a part before I can proceed with build.

Trying to beat the humidity here, last couple of weeks have been a sauna, so waiting on the part has given me a break.

I figured the fiasco with the third party photos has drained enthusiasm.

I'd like to drive to Slick Stock, maybe the truck will be roadworthy by then.

Still here, reading updates as they are posted!

No Facebook for me.

Been around for years but dont post a bunch. I have bounced between FB and mother site and would really like to see more migrate back.......too much drama and opinion for me at times. I will be to slick stock for the first time and waiting for the clock to start to get my motivation back....hard to do much when it is over 90. For western Oregon this is just a pain.

Getting ready to sell the vallejo house, so I can afford rebuilding the Paradise house. Been upper nineties to low one hundreds. Tough to get motivated, still have to install vintage airin the turk, Patrice will be doing a knee replacement come september so we will see if the Turk makes it, or if I get another rental. I agree about facebook, I still check it but only after here.

I just moved back to NY from SC. I had to leave the 63 down south until I can find time to drive it North. My new place doesn't really have a spot for it, and with a kid on the way my progress is probably going to be nil for a while. I'd like to take it to the next slick stock if I can swing it...
I used to look around the FB page a little bit. I prefer this site though and find it much more useful.

Brand new here, but hope activity picks back up. I just picked up a '64 Stepside a couple of weeks ago. Hope to get it hauled home this weekend, so the fun can begin.

No way Dan. You live in KC so you need to drive all your Slicks so we can check em out.

I will be at SS. Gary and I plan on caravanning up there.

I totally agree, it's been too quiet. I think sometimes too, that people don't need to ask so many questions anymore, since there's been so much info given over the years, that you can find and figure out just about anything with a search.

Noticing the comments about knee replacements. Maybe you could ask to have a forum set up. Haha....

I never took the time to figure out posting pictures, and never had a Photobucket account anyway. I know it's been talked about that it would cost to have the site changed to make it easier. And, I know Darrell and Lance have always contended that the membership should be free, but I'd be interested in knowing what it would cost to make changes? I would think a raffle/auction at Slickstock might be able to cover any expense?

I uploaded the pic above to an album on the site here on my profile and added a link to it using the <album></album> tag. Seemed pretty easy, but I've been doing this computer stuff for 30+ years.

I know it quiets down in the summer but it seems more so now. I don't do facebook although I clicked on the slick facebook site just to see what it is about and I just don't see the attraction. I think facebook is like those two mosquitos on Noah's Ark, somebody should have swatted them both.
I'm going to be at Slick Stock VIII. I just need to get my rear in gear and get my truck done. I put a good roof on it and got the pass. side inner and outer cab corner on just need to do same on the other side and front cab mounts and on and on and on........
I was sitting here typing this and it just dawned on me that there's a lot of the old timers that aren't on here as much or at least not posting. I admit I don't post that much but I never have so I guess that makes me guilty of being too quiet.
Dang Pat if you get your other knee done you could probably show us some dance moves at Slick Stock. You could save them for second shift, you know, for people who would appreciate them. LOL

Grump, I am going to hold you personally responsible if Pat starts dancing hurrah.gif , and some of the down right made up stories he spreads,
about things that have happened at past Slick Stock, well .... are just hard to believe  , true but hard to believe

I come on here most days, and I also use FB, which isn't the same as here. I know I don't contribute much in the way of help with our Slicks as I had in the past
but this is my Other Family site and has pulled me out of some dark periods over the years and most of my best friendships started here ... see yáll in KCMO :burp:

Welcome aboard Gotta64 Darrell. My 2 cents is the short summers. I am only on here if a thundershower is rolling through or I have a buggered muscle. No storms tonight :( I am rebuilding my garage this summer so that I have a place for my slick. A buddy is welding in new floor panels for me though!

I'm hoping to get to slickstock 2018, haven't driven my truck since 2003!
Was hoping to have a garage built, last year, still working outside.
All my new metal work, now rusty, again.
Think I'll just bolt it back together, paint just covers up all the work thats been done underneath.
Maybe I'll get the rad support painted at least.

I don't do Facebook (anymore). Got off about 4 years ago. I found out that you go on just to send a short message or to see a picture that everyone's talking about, and when you logout, you find it's been 4 hours since you got on that devil-ish thing. No more for me, I rather watch the grass grow.......

Hi Guys,

Well, I'm still here. Just lurking in the weeds I guess. I check the site a few times per week. Just haven't had that much to add. I'm still with the museum and loving every minute of it.

Best regards to all…

"My granddad ordered his 61 unibody from the factory with a Buick straight 8 engine" is the type of information to be gained from the facebook page.
