To start with Leith, I haven't forgotten you mate, just eating 50 packets of Wheat-Bix to get enough cardboard to pack the Sun-Visor in takes some time mate!

And Johnno of the Blue Mountains variety, those rims I have are 8" and 6"...... Let me know mate!
Honey, If I say I`ll fix something I will, there`s no need to remind me every 6 months!!

All good mate, the slick went to the mechanics for a small oil leak in the manifold......
The manifold was seized on as was the distributor (which is now in 6 pieces) and has taken them 5 days to fully remove. Haven't got the bill yet but I know the billet distributor was $500 alone......  :cussing:

So eat as much weetbix as you can for awhile!!

I haven`t been here much, been working on the Comet ute, & out of action for 4 months with a cut hand from work accident, just returned back from Adelaide in the truck with Comet for the Drag racing grand finals, 3000kms round trip, clocked up over 50000kms on it now since its been on the road, heading to Yass this weekend for the haulin the hume vintage truck run, 300 old trucks entered. I passed a slick cab on a trailer on the hume around Yass way yesterday it was heading south. after Yass will be back to the ute, hopeing to get it to Ford day in July, fired it up for the first time a couple weeks ago, a few things to do then its off to get the computer tuned. Ha Ha, thanks Alan... getting back into things now that I've pulled the engine. Other than the broken cam I found 3 pistons with broken rings, possibly hydraulic failure from running with a broken cam.. not sure. All the bearings are well and truly rooted. Bores look ok so I think she's salvageable. Planning on taking the block, crank, heads and pistons to a local machine shop to be tank cleaned and crack tested. Assuming all goes well and If funds allow, I may get them to rebuild the long block and do a valve job so I can run it on unleaded gas. Also on the hunt for a rear sump and pickup so I can change the oil without dumping on the cross member. :)

In the meantime, planning on a thorough de-grease and clean of the engine bay, installing the power brake master cylinder that I've had for ages and generally tidying things up until I can put the motor back in. Aiming to have it done by Christmas ($$ allowing).

It's an FE block, casting number suggest 1967. I thought it was a 352 but the pistons are stamped 390-2V.

Alan, I still have a look around here every now & then to see whats going on, been pretty busy trying to get the Ranchero done, got it to the All Ford day, took the fleet, the Comet on the Merc truck & Ranchero on a trailer behind, got a permit & drove it to the CMC shannons day at Eastern creek the other day, now have to do a few things to the red car for the Nostalgia Drags in 3 weeks at Sydney dragway, the week after is the Clarendon Classic machinery rally, worth a look if you`re doing nothing 16th & 17th sept at Clarendon showground, should be couple hundred trucks & couple hundred tractors, top show & its free, John

Do you have to be on the Comet forum to use that site, or is it separate to it John ?
