Photobucket to Postimage tutorial

Post by shipwrecked »

Okay folks. I just can’t stand seeing my build thread with all the broken links. I have +30 page she of posts and I just hate seeing the hostage situation photobucket put us under.

Slowly but surely I am migrating my forum post images to Postimage.

I don’t use a computer anymore since the pup chewed my cable. I do everything on my IPad tablet and I will show you here how I do it.

Sign into your Postimage account... sign into your slick60’s account..

I clicked on the top image and it brought me to the placeholder on Photobucket.
I clicked the gear link and hit download.

When the photo opens in download, I clicked on the image so the “save image” block opened.

Image

It saved it to my photo album on my iPad.

Open your Postimage account(make sure you are logged into your account or it goes to Narnia)

Image

Image

I’m now using the thumbnail for forum link. Click on far right so it copies the entire link.

Image

Go back to your slick60’s forum and edit the post you are working on. Delete the old Photobucket link. Replace with new Postimage link

Image

Make sure you hit save on the edited post.

If you select the “hot link for forums” link (two down from thumbnail) it will post a full size image.
Nice write up. I’ve been using postimage since since the photobucket incident. It’s a great alternative.

There are three kinds of people in the world.

1) Those who watch things happen...

2) Those who make things happen...

3) and those who wonder what the hell just happened???

I am the latter lol. What is Postimage?

Gravenetal...

A while back Photobucket started holding our photos hostage for 400$ a year for what used to be a free image program we used online.

Postimage is a free image hosting website.

Funny enough after doing this post- Photobucket goes down again and I can’t access anything. I sure hate their site.

Photobucket is a strange system... as I’m updating my photos on my build thread, I’m working backward from the last page toward 1; and on page 17 I see that a few of my photos from Photobucket still work.

Image

When you update that thread and don’t change that photo, it will become a placeholder like all the other ones. Just an observation of this screwed up company.

I’m really curious if they are making the revenue they anticipated. I am getting daily emails asking me to purchase my access for 2018 at the 2017 price.

Try this out it worked for me.

Photobucket 3rd party post FIX!

A few months back, photobucket decided to put a block on all posting on outside sites without paying a ludicrous amount of money. A new hero created an extension that bypasses that block, and allows the photos to appear again. This is only for Chrome and Firefox; here are the links. Are there issues with PostImage now too? I don't see any images in the posts above.

I think a few years ago their website changed pic locations so older post image links won't show the pics.
