Best mag wheels for a slick

Post by mongrot »

Thinking about getting some turbines or slotted mags for my '61 but want to see how they'd look first. Anyone have pictures of these trucks with turbines or slots? or even keystones? something 70's/80's themed is the look I'm going for. Thanks

It's hard to find trucks running the old style wheels, because old style wheels are getting harder to find, and higher in price.

It may give you a much quicker answer to your choice of wheels, if you copy and print a photo of any vehicle with the type wheels you like, then take a photo of your truck, with scissors cut the wheels off of your truck's photo, and place your truck's photo over the other one and see if that wheel looks like what you are expecting.

It's not that anyone on this site is ignoring you, but they just may not have the picture to tell you what you want to know. Ha, ha....and don't think of cutting out pictures of trucks with scissors is childish, heck, I'm 64 years old and I get my BEST answers by doing that sometimes.

Just a thought....have a great day.

Not a Mag wheel but here is our Merc with stainless steel hubcaps,, Since this pic was taken it also has stainless steel beauty rings as well painted color of truck and also beats trying to keep wheels polished or worry about some dumb a$$ tearing your nice wheels on the tire machine

I personally like the 95 and back Ford wheels that are smooth aluminum and have a coating. Although these are getting harder to find in good condition and be sure to get caps and screws when you do find thee. I do have some of the style that have the rivets on these also have one set of slots for these trucks need polishing and price is 300$ plus shipping from Illinois if interested.

Thanks for the pics guys, I have a similar set as tomrooster on mine right now (links below). Nobody on here is running slots/cragars/keystones or turbines or what? oldsmiley-I've cut a few pictures out myself ha, fortunately availability of old stuff isn't a problem in my area, $100-$150 gets you a set of any classic mag of your choice from the local junkyard.

I can think of at least 2 members (who aren't that active anymore) who have run slotted wheels on a Slick, but can't seem to find any pictures (likely due to the recent Photobucket nonsense).

I have Torque Thrust wheels on many of my vehicles, from my Camper Special to my Cyclone, even have factory clones on my late model Chebbie. I have military Hummer wheels and tires on my '66 F250 4x4, and 15" x 15" Convo-Pros for the rear of the gasser. I am seriously looking for some narrow Convo-Pros for the front, not only for appearance, but to allow clearance for a tilt and slide setup for the fiberglass front end.
If anyone should know of such in the 5 x 5.5 " pattern, I am certainly interested.
I happened into a deal on some steel Soft Eights last week! $7.97 per wheel in 17"x 8" with free shipping! My son has been after me to replace the polished Soft Eights on my Bronco with some "in style" black wheels; I will likely try the new ones on there since 15" off-road tires are becoming somewhat harder to find.
