I picked up a stake bed today, with the intention of using it on my '73 International Pickup. When I was loading it, I noticed that it's a Ford Factory bed, with FORD stamped in the back.
My project will require me to cut & modify the bed- And I really hate to do that to a factory bed if I can avoid it, I'd rather see it on on someone's FORD... I know back when I was looking for one for my Ford, I couldn't locate a 'real' one.
This bed is in GREAT shape- Is there any demand for them?? It'll work fine for my needs, but as I said I hate to cut it up!
Stake Bed
Re: Stake Bed
Guess the first question would be the length.
I have several good all steel C/M brand flat beds here; not even sure of lengths. I might consider a trade, just a long way to travel.

I'm pretty sure it's 12' long... I'll double check, though.Toyz wrote:Guess the first question would be the length.

Re: Stake Bed
How exactly is that F O R D on the metal ?
Hard to tell in a photo ....
Is it painted ? Or raised metal ??
If it's painted ... to me just another stake bed..
Raised metal might be a real item for a diehard

It is raised metal. This is a genuine Ford bed, which is why I hate to use it on my project!
And, I probably should have mentioned in my initial post that the "headache rack" that's just sitting on top of it was loosely welded to the front, I cut it off to make it easier to move the bed on to the trailer.
Re: Stake Bed
Looks like the stake pockets on the side are set up for three side gates, so if it's 12' long, each would be 4'. Could probably be easily shortened to 8' to fit on an old F250 and still look like original.andgott wrote:I'm pretty sure it's 12' long...
