62/63 Passenger side door emblem
62/63 Passenger side door emblem
Hey everyone, I recently purchase a 63 Stepside that was partly disassembled for paint. I’ve been trying to put everything back together again and noticed that the inside passenger door is suppose to have an emblem. From what I understand this was only on the 62’s and 63’s. Does anyone have a picture of one or know where I can find one?
Thanks,
Janet
Thanks,
Janet

Re: 62/63 Passenger side door emblem
I had one on my 63. It was missing the emblem though. It’s a small two inch plate with a ford oval on it. I have a photo I grabbed off the Internet many years ago to show, but I’m locating it in my old photobucket album.

Thanks April, that helps. All the pictures that I have seen are from a distance and you really couldn’t tell what it was.

I filled the holes in the door and painted. Not putting that plate back on.

I've been around slicks for about 30 years now and never saw this before. Goes to show you, you can learn something new every day. When I first read your post title I thought you might have meant the "Custom Cab" trim piece which goes under the steering wheel. That I believe is 63 and 64 only.

Pat the 63 I got in Kansas has a nice one on it, But I see April got a pic of one so I see that will help,, over the years I have had several but the ratio of actual part on a door is like 1 out of 30, maybe even more

Re: 62/63 Passenger side door emblem
My 63 CC had one on the passenger side and also had one on the drivers side, I was told that they did not come on the drivers side, that someone had put it there, but after a closer look the holes look to be stamped and not drill. Neither are in the truck now. Lost to time somewhere....
Re: 62/63 Passenger side door emblem
I have one on my original 64 longbed, not a custom cab. No insert graphic however. I've inquired to others about this before but never got a definitive answer, I thought. Doors are original.
Mustangs of that era have something similar. It is an aluminum foil-like thin plate that was glued in with a FORD oval and text of something like "Ford Motor Company", I believe.

Re: 62/63 Passenger side door emblem
I've owned many slicks over the years, but have only seen this emblem on 61-61's, and some Falcons, and Fairlane's.
I don't ever recall that they were used on 65-66's. Of course if someones ever changed a door, and used an earlier one, that could cause a whole NEW conversation...
