63 wiring question

Post by JeffinMooresville »

Hey, i am trying to redo the wiring in my 63 using the existing harness. I have spent a lot of time with the shop manual wiring diagram.

I have a yellow/black wire that comes thru firewall in the 8 terminal connector with the rest of the ignition wiring. It runs over to threnstarter solenoid and just hangs. Was not connected to anything. Has a single female pin connector.

Anybody know what this should connect to? Trying to fix some rigs from previous owner and dont want to miss anything obvious.

I'm thinking that goes on the solenoid
It gives full 12 volts to the coil when starting the engine
If your engine starts easy , I would be hesitant to attach it
(I might be wrong on this ... hopefully somebody that is
For certain will chime in)

12768On my 63 the horn wire is yellow w/ blue stripe and the I post solenoid wire that slick 4x4 mentioned is brown with a 90 degree female round pin connecter. the 63 diagram shows your yellow/black wire connecting to a breaker that feeds from the battery side of the starter solenoid. My 63 doesn't have this wire or that breaker that the diagram shows.
