My dad ran this set up for about 14 years hauling some heavy scrap loads. The set up can be cleaned up and done cleaner but its a bolt in. The y block trans bolts right to the ft bellhousing. Dad chose to use the fe harmonic balancer so he had a bearing and seal co. Make him a custom seal to use the FE balancer with the FT timing cover. Oh and you have to have the FT flywheel balanced as the FE is internally balanced compared to a FT. Dad ran it unbalanced for a while with tall gears and didmt rev it because he had to. He later used a hand crank tire balancer. And all this is bolted onto a old cracked 30 over 390 block with 6cr heads and a 64 4bbl intake. Its not rocket science as some have tried to tell me it is..even though we dad did it...its a simple swap. Hope this helps you.

Your timing cover with the integral water pump is the one I was talking about. C4XX casting it accepts a standard FE front seal from the back side. You can get a custom seal for the front but an off the shelf would drive in the rear also.

EDIT: Did you ream out the fan/pulley hub from an FE water pump to fit the larger HD water pump shaft?
