What years of gas tanks fit 64 f100?

Post by mongrot »

Anyone know if a '57-' 60 F100 tank will fit a 61-66 F100? I picked up a tank out a 58 and it looks very similar, just wondered if it'll bolt in or can be easily modified to fit? If not, I have a good 58 tank for sale.

61-69 gas tank only, see 57-60 tank is held in by 2 straps that bolts to the cab as where as 61-69 is held in by 3 bolts across the top and sits in 2 brackets that the cab mount bolts go through ++ both take different sending units

Thought so, thanks. Looking at the tank again, I think it must be 61 up then, because it appears to be identical to my '64. I saw the guy take it out and the truck was definitely a 57-60. Guess someone made it fit. Never know what kind of modifications to expect on a 60 year old truck I guess. Good news is it' ll fit my project. Picture below

like I said the 61-69 tanks with have 3 bolt holes across the top, 70/72 with have 5 across the top & holes at bottom of tank on each side so they bolt across the top and bottom just like the in cab tanks that where used on the 73-77 4x4 trucks and crew cabs on those years as well was bolted in like the 70/72 trucks
