Rear end sway

Post by Blackwaterforge »

I purchased new tires and wheels.
Tires are BF Goodrich MT 265/75 R 16 E on wheel vinets 16 x 8 wheels.
Previous tires where 235/85 R 16 E Michelin tires on Ford OE 16 x 7 wheels.
At speeds above 60 truck has considerable rear end sway.
Does anyone else have this issue with wider mid tires on aftermarket wheels?
If it cain't be fixed with a sledge hammer it must be an electrical problem!

Reversed for me on a 94 and 96 F-250. I run Cooper 235/85R16 E on the 65. I never cared for 235/85R16 Michelin or Uniroyal Load Range E due to rear sway. Even with 80 psi the side walls gave too much. Worse with a trailer. If you have Load Range D in the 265/75R16 the max psi is 65. The tire man may have only put 50 psi. With your (7,500lb ?) truck that could be the issue. Dad ran 265/75R16 E on his lwb 4 door simgle rear wheel C30 with a tool box bed. I do not remember any sway with it.

if the tires are real aggressive in the tread then it will sway, we put some on our wrecker and had to take them off real fast due to real aggressive tire sway and go with less of mud gripping and more to hwy. tread
