Ford 262 vs 223 interchangeable parts?

Post by mongrot »

Just trying to get some information on the 262 six engine. From what I understand, it was a heavier duty version of a 223 (obviously having a different bore or stroke) and I believe used timing gears instead of a chain, I'm wondering if the 262 gears will fit into a 223 or if any other parts will interchange? The more info the better. Thanks

Here's a link to some info ...
Sounds like its a no-go because of cam difference
......
Changing a chain on a 223 is about as easy as any engine
I myself wouldn't think it would be worth the swap

Thanks, that's the info I was looking for. Looks like I would have to change the cam as well to get the gears to work. I've changed a chain, just wondered if gears were an option.
