OOOOOHHHHH!!!!

Now it makes sense....
In the partway open pic, I thoguht "that's what it did". I didn't inderstand it, etc. In the open config, it makes all sorts of sense. Thanks for posting those up. It clarified my mind...
And yes, it is Really cool, now that I see clearly now... I might be interested in something like that, although I'm a kid with a weak budget, and goals to keep her kinda ratrod/kinda nice... so I'd probably fab something of my own...

Elpolacko how much is involved to do that. Will it work from 61-66 ? Do you have to modify the hood. By the way I like :!:

hey Polacko.... Your shop is a Wonderland.... I was looking at your albums on photobucket... dang.

You wanna be buddies? I do... haha

Agatha craves a trip to go meet Polacko.... She dreams of being reinvisioned... I'm probably gonna wind up doing a lot of that stuff myself, but it is good to see somebody with similar ideas, finished projects, and likely solutions to problems....

I knew about your slick truck, but I had never browsed your p.bucket before...

No catch needed. I have a pair of gas pistons that hold the position just fine. I have had this done now for about 6 years or so, never had a problem with the hood falling. Even in heavy wind!

You guys are welcome to come down for a tour. We are going to have our open house party on November 17, Saturday evening. We do demos and are working on a band too.

hood hinges

Post by Truckrat »

:thumright: E P, I am with ya, that is one sweet idea you came up with. Got any Ideas about what a set up like that would go for. I agree, the more you made, the better the price. I don't have a show truck like yours, but it doesn't HAVE to be chromed out to work the same. Most folks here are looking for alternatives to the stock hinges, and you definitely have a good one.
I would like to see a bunch of slick guys want that set up so you WOULD
build them, and I could get one. TR

El Polacko
Steve, Per our conversation on Friday I will stop in and see you about the tilting hood(hopefully within the next 2 weeks). Here is a link to the pics of where I am at on my truck. I am working on it again and hope to paint it this winter so it can be in upholstery in the spring or summer at the latest. I think that this truck will be nice enought to deserve a hood like that to help draw attention to it.

If anybody else is interested in this tilting hood it is the time to talk to him and help get the price down for him and us. This system isn't cheap but it looks like the way it is made you can get to everything under the hood to work on it and should be a real showpiece.

same only different

I am about to install the forward tilt mechanisms from a 90 Buick on my slick - pretty straight forward setup,
So all I have to do is make a few brackets to mount the new hinges, and then figure out the best location for the rear sliders.
I am hopeful to get almost as much forward extension as Elpolacko.

Good question, since I certainly would have no application for chrome ones,
but I could run them over to my buddy the powdercoater here locally..

if the difference was like $1000 for the chrome set and $250 for the steelie, I
know which one he'd sell 10 or 20 sets of...

Just remember Steve, Ford truck guys are "Frugal"
Just ask the Odlid at Roddors.

CPP makes a kit for Fat Fenders that could possibly be adapted to other trucks too. I am likely going to adapt a Buick setup to mine, but then I like doing things the hard way.

Slick Fan and ELpolacko-
I like the looks of both of your kits. Slick Fan did you build that kit or is it something that is available in the after-market?
The only thing that I worry about on both of those kits is the distance from the radiator to the cross bar. I wouldn't want it to hit my tunnel ram.

1 pc side windows

Post by STYLN63 »

ELpolacko--What did you do for your 1 pc side windows? Did you have take a lot of the inner structure of the door out to get the 1 pc windows in the doors? If so, what did you do to get the structure back? Thanks
