It. Happened years ago before Christmas

Post by slick4x4 »

Listen, my children, and you shall hear
Of The Christmas night that Santa had no reindeer
On the 24th of December, a few years back
He had no ride , but a plumb full sack

He said to his elves, “If i cant deliver
From town to town to-night,
There be a lot of sad children
in the morning daylight.

But he had a plan , on a flat Kansas farm
There was an old truck , a bit rusty , but with charm

He talked to the owner, (who wasn't so bright)
And Santa got it borrowed without much of a fight

The magic that Santa has ,to make reindeers fly
Works on about anything , but we do not know why

So he loaded that truck , till the overloads sagged
Then he got insurance, and made certain it was tagged

On piston number one ! Number five ! Number three !
And the rest followed their lead , in that 223

It made it to Canada and Australia and even to Texas
And to a town called Dodge city ? (For a fellow named Festus)

It made it back to the farmer , a little more worn
A scratch in the door , & the seat had got torn

Santa said "it ran pretty good"
"But it rides like a wagon ,and shakes the whole hood"

"And the heater ain't much"
" I can hardly feel my toes"
"They're probably as cold"
"As my frost bitten nose"

The farmer said "you sure are a grump"
"For someone who is suppose to be jolly"
"I lent you my truck"
"You should say say THANK YOU by golly

Santa said "please don't get me wrong"
"I appreciate it greatly , and it was a long night"
"But It sure would have helped"
"If the windows stayed up & the doors would been tight"
