Quarantine

Post by slick4x4 »

The "stay at home " order has effected lots of people
Not so much for rural folks
Still have to necessary things like work & grocery shop
My son teaches school, so he has more time
as he can get mostly done by 1pm
Colleen is home full time
We have been doing tons of yard work (big farm needs a lot)
Re-doing flower beds ... cutting back bushes
Have cut down about 8 big trees
Plan on knocking down another dozen
(Lot of free heat for the wood stove next year )
Need to re-tin a smaller (20x30) shed ....
Probably do that when I can have a couple guys help ...
also need to build some fence around the Cattle corral
Been using the F350 to haul tree limbs
We've burnt 2 huge limb piles
And the 3rd one is getting there.....
:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D
Hope all is good with everybody & their Slicks in this trying times

Pat glad to hear your safe/family etc.. yes we are home as well
Both Daughters work home
Son is still at Petro's as full mechanic since Trucks cannot stop and working now 7 days a week, his wife delivering food on the school buses
Built this past weekend new stairs to front entrance which was 9 steps so pretty high
still have a few trees to cut down
crushing about 1 truck a week so food on the table after we strip a lot off
not much being sold on mail order and the loss of the swap meets is way up there
Kathy goes food shopping takes about 5-6 food stores to get about 3 meals
It's been so hard for families that cannot say goodbye to lost ones which is real bad
we are still paying on now 1 truck at 40.00 per day and on the 20th day since after buying found out cannot get car carriers to go in and out of Calif., now working on trying to get them to waive the storage fees but looks like all they care about is their money and not hardships like us and others are going through
Do not know how others feel BUT I am not holding my breath on waiting on the Govt. to help us or anybody else out
at lease I can run to Lowes if we need something I get there a 6.00 AM and maybe 5 people in the store even bought toilet paper in Lowes
Well final thought hope everybody is doing OK from sea to sea, border to border, country to country outside the USA on the Northern/Southern side, across the big pond and any members that might be in space or at North Pole etc......

Hey Everyone,
Well the stay at Home has not been a problem here as I’m in the construction bizz.Been working on new construction so it’s been me and a helper everyday, most other subs have come and gone. And we’re working exterior and on ladders up two stories. However Valla has become obsessed with wiping everything with bleach when I get home,my phone a blue tooth speaker and the garage door handles, door knob into the house etc,etc.... we bought some n95 face masks last fall for her allergies and yard work so I cannot go in anywhere without wearing one and gloves or else she’ll just totally freak on me.....probably justified and I don’t mind it.....Welcome to 2020......my opinion is that this shit is totally blown out of perporion planet earth could use an old fashion die off of humanity as long as it’s not me..........
Have a nice day
Dan

We have a little room to move around out in the New Mexico desert. Been tinkering with wood and truck projects here and there.

For what ever reason you feel your safe think of others. We lost our 24 year old son in 2018 to a flu stran. He was gone within 36 hours of leaving our house. Two days after we lost contact with him we headed to his apartment. Based off what we experienced the virus dies when the host dies. I can see why those who die alone at home can't be identified as positive or negative Covid-19. We do not know where or how he was infected but we do our part to cut the chances of being in a chain that cuts off another life.

Seems to me it is one big emergency after the next with the world news. It is probably true but it will drive you nuts. The local news seems to state essential news about our area then move on to something else.

EDIT: Yes, we wear the mask when were in town.

Everyone of us, should be extremely thankful each day that we can say "I DON'T HAVE IT". Realizing that any day could be the day that we say "I DO HAVE IT", then wonder if we'll be able to beat it or not.

I never took cancer serious until I was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma. After 8 months, several surgeries and 66 heavy doses of radiation, I now return to my Dr. once a year for a checkup. One year my Dr. introduced me to his NEW assistant as being his oldest returning patient. He then asked.... "how long has it been anyway"? I told him that THAT visit made 20 years. He slowly turned and said, I've never told a patient this before but, most of them get it a second time in 3-5 years, sometimes 8, but 20 years was unheard of. He said as far as I'm concerned, you're completely cured.

I said Doc, I appreciate all that you did, but YOU didn't do it. God cured me. Not being a believer himself he went on to another subject. He retired shortly after that, and I'd love to see him today just to let him know that THIS year, makes 37 years. After a second chance at life, I'm one who doesn't care what the world holds....as long as I know who holds my world!

This virus could happen to any of us. Just thank God for each day that we get through without it. Wearing a mask & gloves ain't all that bad......

Here in Nebraska we have not seen a whole lot of issues yet. Now that i work as an inside sales person at Kelly Supply (Industrial parts wholesaler) I have seen a down swing of some maintenance departments and an upswing of other maintenance departments. Farmers are still coming in and getting there planters ready to go despite the crop prices dropping. Life still goes on as normal here just not going out as much as before.

My boys elementary school teacher just posted this ...
He is a good guy ... not in the greatest physical shape (overweight)
He is approx 60 years old ...

"Today, I feel a lot better than I have for weeks.
On April third I started feeling poorly and got medicine from Dr Jarvis .
I never got any better, so on Feb 12 as I called my doctor again
and he had me go to the ER.
They gave me some tests and new meds.
On Tues evening at 8 pm Coffey County Health called to tell me
I had had Covid for the whole time and maybe before.
Dr Jarvis got me on hydroxychloroquine the next day.
A wonderful neighbor Karl Lauderbaugh went to Burlington
and got it for me and left it on our porch.
Doc saved me.
I had been using my nasacort and my breathing treatments as much as 5 times a day.
Sometimes. twice during the night.
I was pretty sick at home with this.
My Dad never got it and now he’s taking a preventative.
We were very careful getting groceries trough the back seat
and only went into Hoover’s and Rogers oil.
I might have got it from a gas pump."

Pat that is one of the most virus transmitting place is gas/diesel pump handles,, We always used gloves all the time + we have wipes in all of the trucks, Another place is money, if we get cash it gets put in one of our junk trucks and sprayed down till next day, when the mail comes it stays in the box and gets sprayed for next day to be taken out then. ALL Incoming boxes by Ups gets sprayed and ALL Out going by Ups gets spayed as well, it's like a piece of mind for us and anybody wants to come by, we have one customer coming to pickup a disc brake tomorrow leaving it on the table we have set up for him and his wife just all be safe and use common sense < which a lot of people does not know what common sense means :2cents: >

I read a story about the plague that ravished Europe centuries ago
The people in cities were short on food
Because the farmers were scared to bring crops into the towns
So there were stones that were sat on the edges of town
With bowl cuts made into them
They were filled with vinegar
The city folk would put money (coins) in the vinegar
Then back up ... the farmer would take the money
And leave potatoes or whatever they had to sell
Then the farmer would back away
And the person would come up & retrieve the food ....
Vinegar .... the original hand sanitizer
