Well it has started!! Just picked up a 63 f600 cab and chassis. I haven't seen it in person yet but pictures look pretty decent. I will pick it up this weekend and get better pics.

This body will be dropped onto a F100 short frame with a style side box. Crown vic front subframe with my old 428 and a c-6 transmission. This is going to be for my daughter who is showing great interest in old trucks.

That will be an amazing project for the both of you! I feel like the memories as well as the truck will be a great way to spend time with your daughter. Keep being a dad man! It’s the best job any man can have.

Very nice truck!! I'm definitely am jealous of the grille and lack of rust! It really is great to see the young ones still attracted to old vehicles. Excited to watch this project progress

Avery and I tried out the "comet wash" on a few panels and didn't turn out to bad.

Time to start putting the engine together. Avery wanted to put this engine together herself! So with a little coaching we got started.
First off Avery honed the cylinders a bit to get a good cross hatch.
After cleaning up after the honing the cylinders she installed the oil gallery plugs and frost plugs.
Next with a little help from wee man (Daxton) she got the crank bearings in and with help from Dad we got the crankshaft installed. Then she torqued down the main bearings.
Time for new piston rings! I did help with this because it just takes FOREVER!! Then Avery put all the pistons in and torqued down the rods. Surprisingly the engine still turns over!!
Now time for the magic stick (camshaft)!!!
Sorry forgot to take pics of the timing chain and front cover.
Now time for the go fast stuff!! PAINT!!! If your an FE purist please don't shoot me for the paint. It's OLD FORD RED. Avery's choice.
We still need to install the head gaskets and assemble the rest of the top end but that will be later this week.

We are going to revive a flair side that I've had for some time. It's not the greatest but we will make it work.i just got the metal bed strips today and I know where I can get some free cedar wood to make the bed planks.

The frame we are using had a dana 44 axle in back and a badly broken rear spring. So we swapped out the whole rear axle and springs from a donor truck.
Next the front axle had to come out and a crown vic subframe went in. It's not completely in yet but it's in good enough for now.
I got a great deal on some 05 Mustang GT wheels and a buddy of mine hooked me up with some free new tires!!

Avery is doing a great job. She's going to intimidate the guys with the fact she built her truck herself, Well maybe not the gear heads.LOL Keep up the great work Avery.

Avery is back at putting her engine back together. This is my old 428 that I had in my 65.
Next step is to put the heads on and get them all torqued down. Avery found out how much it takes to do do this as her upper body was feeling pretty rough by the time she got them all done.
Next step was to install the lifters. Yes I kept them in the same order as they came out. I tried to explain to Avery the importance of doing that.
Avery had fun building the "China rail" instead of using the cork gaskets as they tend to slide out and not seal. The intake was installed right after that. Good thing is is aluminum as it would of taken 20 people to put the stock one back on!! Push rods are also good to install at this point. They are cheap hardened ones ffom years ago as I used to bend them anytime I revved it over 4500 rpms.
So now we put a little bling on it to see how it will look in the truck. Yes I know the wires are not routed right they came with the cap and I will be changing them out before we fire it up!! Now to get the frame ready for the engine and transmission.

Those are some cool valve covers!! I've never seen a set of those before. Also what brand of intake are y'all running? Looks like y'all are building for high rpm's.

I got the valve cover at a dirt track swap meet for cheap and they were brand new! They are sold by Speedway motors out of Lincoln NE. I have found they have a "matching" air cleaner lid that I need to buy.
The intake is an old street master 390 that I've had for 15ish years. It's just going to be a street beater truck! Avery is only 14yrs old right now and this will be her engine. This engine has been in the family since 1967!!
