That '69 Mercury I owned has a lot of my memories left on it's back seat.

This one time me and my girl were out parking and the law showed up. He told us we had to leave from that spot 'cause someone had been starting fires in the woods.

Jokingly I ask him where we could go and believe it or not he told me about some old softball fields near the interstate we could park at. :o
Spent a lot of weekends playing "ball" in those fields from then on.

Both my boys seem to love to ride with me in the trucks i had at the time. My oldest son ( now 31 yrs ) rode on my 68 bump side. My younger son ( now 14 yrs ) in the 66 i have now. A diaper bag and a few bottles of milk and off we would go and stay gone all sunday having a good time. Even now when i ask the 14 year old if he wants to cruise for a little while his reply is " If we are going in the 66 yes if the 93 i'll just stay here" . Those memories are special to me. and still making new ones all along the way.

one of the most interesting and best performing off the beaten path would have to be the VW Thing i owned in the late 1980s.it began with a friend giving it to me if i would fix it and use it.spent a period of unemployment welding in a whole new floorpan and installing a vw bus transaxle.wasnt pretty, poor heat but only things you needed to go off road were a handyman jack and come-along.get stuck, jack up the rear and push it over a few feet or hook up to a tree and give a little pull.had steering brakes for the rear, 2 cables to pull between the seats for either stopping the left or right depending on which was spinning.

Forgot one
Bought the wife a K-car because she said it looked interesting.
1982 STRETCHED K-car Looked like a small Mercedes when I put the vinyl roof on it with the oval rear window block out.
She eventually killed it when she hit a man-hole cover (low low suspension).
I have 6 kids so it was practical at the time, and the kids didn't mind being dropped off at some function because at first glance it looked like a real one.
You should have seen some of the real limo drivers laughing thier butts off or a thumbs up ocasionally

My favourite truck was my '78 302 c4 bare bones longbox. Got great gas mileage and moved countless people, just the body rotted off it in Calgary salt.
My favourite vehicle I ever had to drive was a '94 Jeep grand Cherokee...(ducks rotten tomatoes) Had a 318 and was loaded with every option.. it was just breaking me on gas .. when gas was a LOT cheaper too :?

Little story with the Jeep, I was saving it for "Good" and driving my winter beater '81 Malibu when a big storm hit while I was at work one time. Got it all the way home in the 8" of wet snow, pulled in to my cul-de-sac and got stuck about 20 ft from my driveway. All the neighbours stood in their living room windows and watched me struggle to get it free, not one of the pricks would come out and help me. I had helped at least half of them before, in the same situation. Finally me and the wife and my visiting mother-in-law got it up the driveway after an hour of struggle and digging.

It snowed more that night. Next day, 10" of wet slushy snow everywhere. I pulled the Jeep out of the garage. I had a great time splashing all the arseholes, who the night before would not help me, while they were digging out their cars in the morning, the Jeep left a wake in the snow like a ski boat that splashed all over them as I went by. Dang near peed myself laughing. :rotflmao:

Got out on the road and the streets were abandonned. People walking around on the road, and no vehicles on the road (All the busses were stuck), looked like a scene from "Night of the living dead"... all white and surreal.

Made it to work no problems at all. The only others who made it in that day were a guy with an Expedition, and some kid who miraculously got his ricer there. It was St. Paddys day and we were going to all go out for a green beer, but the restaurants and bars were all closed because no one could get to work.
I loved that Jeep after that. :dancing:

While they weren't Fords, the 3 that come to mind besides Stella are:

55 Chev, small block

70 Challenger, small block (Damn)

64 Stingray, Vert 327 300 hp.

I wonder if they will meet me in my big garage in heaven?

I have had a few that were fun but the best and most memorable has to be my 66 F100. In part because we have been together for so long but also because of all of the family memories with my wife and son. She's like one of the family and always gets us there and back again.

89 F150 XLT Lariat 8ft box extended cab.
lowered into the weeds, aluminum wheels , stereo ,custom paint with a mustang 5 liter roller motor and mazda 5 speed with 3.50 posi rear end.
drove all year round rain or snow
used it for everthing moved stuff allthe time. even went to Tom's on parts run for the Slick with it. :D had 420 thousand kilometers on it.
It started getting long in the tooth. needed work so I sold it to a buddy of a buddy. He fell in love with it started fixing it up :D 8)
Buddy phones for paint codes then calls back and says he no longer needed them.
Seems buddy ran into the back of parked truck withit
wrapped front end around motor and bent the firewall
I guess the old girl was just not ment to be owned by someone else :!:
new truck is nice but I kinda miss the old girl sometimes

i got nothing on most here (lots of nice 60's ford iron), but my very first car was a 63 mg midgit. it had removable plexiglas side curtains and a positive ground electrical system. that was a fun car when it wasn't broke down. i also liked my 65 continental sedan.

my high school sweetheart... a red 1965 Buick Skylark, 2d sedan, V6 engine.... was my grandmother's car and in great shape for 1978 when I had her my senior year of HS and freshman year of college.... alas, I sold her to cut my expenses for Syracuse University...sometimes I think I see her out on the road, or in a parking lot late at night...

Had lots of vehicles over the years that i really liked. If i had to pick one i would say my 57 Studebaker Golden Hawk. It had a 289 with a McCoullah supercharger and automatic trans ,which was actually a fordamatic. It sure was a good running and sleek looking car. Still kicking myself for trading it off. My first car was a 50 ford coupe with a v8 . also had 66 Plymouth Belvedere hardtop and a 68 Roadrunner. once had a Int Scout , good truck but the body rusted away. recently had an 86 Bronco that held up better than any other car i owned, had 210 k miles when i traded for a new 02 ford f1oo .

I don't have many that I wish I never sold, because I just don't sell the ones I really like.
I've still got my first vehicle from 1980, my 66 F100 CC. I've got so many fond memories of times in that truck & I'll never part with it.
I've still got these too; '70 Charger 500, '84 Mustang convertible, 89 Suburban, 90 Yamaha V-max (it's an animal), 91 Explorer (232,000 miles & still going).

The only one I wish I didn't sell was my 78 Bronco XLT Ranger. I loved that & must buy another. :D
My "Slickitis" affliction began here...
