What year truck is this?

Post by Bwildered »

I found an older ford truck on craigslist (and just down the road from my house). I am interested in it, but am new to the older model fords, and can't tell what this one is. I think it is a 1962-64, but the bed of the truck is making me wonder.

Also, anyway to tell what size engine it has?

Is this a good deal? I am looking for a project vehicle and soemthing to occassionally haul 2x4's home or tow my jeep.

Thanks.

Well it's got a 1963 grill, but from the pics it looks like a '61 upper valance, Someone else will chime in on the bed for sure (it's the 57-60 style, but they did use them after 1960 till ??)

At that price, (and probably lower with cash) it's a good deal for a non-rusted and running/driving truck.

you have come to the right place
the guys you meet at this site are fantastic.
the knowledge they have is awesome
i on the other hand , am a 'newbie', but i will give it a shot..
1963, with the 'wrong bed' which is actually the correct bed!
looks pretty straight, for that kind of money i would want to test drive it
if it runs good , pretty fair price.....IMO

I got a line on a 62 uni, may go look at it later today or tomorrow. The guys says it is a nice rust free West Texas truck with a virgin radio delete dash. 6 cyl 3 speed. I'll try to get some pictures.

I'm not bewildered all of the time, just some of it. Jeez.

Yes, '63 is for sale (unofficially) if you're interested. Send me PM and I'll give you any details.

Thanks Skip!

Hello, Bwildered

As it turns out I did not purchase the truck. My plan was to go up last Thursday but due to 4" of rain where the truck was I could not get to it. So wound up not going. We talked again on Friday, while he was actually looking at the truck for me. It turned out not to be what I was looking for. I am looking for a very low rust cab. The actual owner is named Allen, he very nice and completly honest about what he is selling. His office #903-883-8686 and cell #903-450-3877

Thanx for the info. Did he say how bad the rust was on it? I am assuming it is probably the floor boards, bed, etc. I have to work this weekend, but maybe if it's still there next weekend I'll run and see what I can workout.

Thanx for the heads up and the info.

Hi Bwildered,

All my questions to him were about the cab itself. He did say the truck had floorboard rust and rain drip ledge rust as well and there was body filler repair to the drip ledges areas. The truck is actually in Quinlan, TX. I am not sure how far you live from there but a may be worth a drive over to check it out. Since I live 300 miles to the south I elected not to chance it. I may have missed out on a good deal myself.
