Hmm, if I remember correctly the original sending unit has a pretty long arm for the float. Maybe too long for a flat tank.

If the unit works then you should be able to use it. You might have to modify it a little but it should work.

All you need is to know the empty angle and the full angle and then shorten/bend the rod to make it work.

You can also go with aftermaket ones form a place like Autometer.

I am thinking about making my own tank as well. I wthink I might get the stuff for Al and try my hand at that, or do SS and have a buddy tig weld it shut for me.

I think I'll try shortening mine.Dont see why that would'nt work.
Anybody know a formula for figuring the size tank to how many gallons it will hold?

go to www.google.com and type in something like this...

10 inches x 10 inches x 12 inches to gallons

and it will give you this...

(10 inches) x (10 inches) x (12 inches) = 5.19480517 US gallons

couldn't be easier!

dont think the stock unit will work.............. i might be wrong ......... 90degree sweep of the float means the resistor coil need to be in the center depth wise (6" deep pivot point @ 3") unless the resistor coil is rotated so the 1/2 a tankpoint isnt horiznal

Length X width X depth divided by 231= gallons/
