new guy/ bed cover for64 style side short box

Post by castruck_1964 »

Just joined old site to find out there's a new site i need to join.
Now that that is out of the way does any one know if there is a solid flush mount bed cover available for a 64 style side six foot box.
Only ones I have seen go over top of the bed rails and to me that ruins the perfect lines of a Slick . :?

wk65 bought one for his '66 (same bed) and it wasn't expensive. You'll have to ask him where he got it though. JC can take pictures of it for you on Thursday.

Welcome CASTRUCK,
I have a 64 shortbed styleside and I got a flush mount tonneau cover from Dave's Tonneau Covers http://www.davestonneaucovers.com/slimtop.html

It is not yet installed on my bed, but it has been fitted and is being painted to match my truck color. I really like the looks of it. When it is finished I will post some pics.

Again welcome to one of the best Slick 60s site on the web.

Hey Ranger
Thanks for the info would like to see the pics. Was it special order and how long did it take to get. 8)

Johnny
Thanks also, but they make stepside only, and everything else is custom order. They think it would have to be two piece due to the weight. Also might require a small mortage to pay for it. But is really nice piece. :D

Again thanks to all .Still getting used to this stuff :D :!:

I plan on making mine....someday. Plus it will fit better as I'm sure no two beds are the same dimension.

I hear you Comet
That thought has crossed my mind as well. But the paint guy and my deadline for finally finishing this project so that I can go to shows and not have to ride shotgun is forcing me to look at all the options. My assistants have threatened me with bodily harm if it is not done for the supernations next year.

I understand time pressures. But I bet it could be made in a couple hours and just have it sitting there with a hinge and figure out the latch later. I'm going to upholster mine with white tuck-n-roll.

I think it took about 3 weeks from the time I ordered it. It came from a place in Kentucky called Checkers. It has to be delivered to a business and not to a residence. It comes by freight lines. I really like the looks of it on the bed. I got it with quick release hinges and barrel locks on the top in the rear. I will post pictures when it is complete and on the bed.
Thanks,

Hey Ranger
Thanks for the reply. :D
Talked to a Guy at Goodguys Charlotte two years ago with what looked very similar to the one you got. but could not recall where he got it. :(
Also posted this same Question on the dark side.
Got a reply to check a web site(www.checkerpro.com)
They are in Kentucky and are the manufaturer as you know.
But the best part is they sell direct to customer. :D :D :D
Thanks again
