Here's when we got the engine running but we were still having problems with the tranny. I took off the trans pan and found the gear selector some how slipped off the valve switcher thinggy lol. Don't know what it's called but it was stuck in low gear.

Now to the front end. When we began putting the front body back on it didn't line up right. After messing with it for hours, we figured out the cab mounts were rusted and had collapsed a little. So we cut all the rust out and put some rust reformer over the hard to get places. Made a new mounting surface and wallah the front end slipped right on! The truck also polished up pretty nice!

yep, that's right were mine is shot. the mount to cab was ok, but the section on the cab wall that the mount is welded too is blown out.

Someone told me the mounts are sold somewhere like LMC or something but I didn't really look around too much. I just wanted to fix it the quick way. Should last another 50 years hopefully. I painted it all up and put new bushings in there.

Lowered the back end about 3 1/2 inches. Not really sure how much because I forgot the initial measurement lol. Anyways we took out 3 leafs on each side and my grandad lengthened the shackles as far as they would go before they hit the bed. Also painted the wheel wells with some bed liner.

Looking real good.

Just a few questions.

What did the engine come out of?

Did you buy or make the engine mount setup?

Do you still have the old 292?

Thanks,

J

thanks man. Not sure what kind of headers they are. The engine came out of a dirt track car then to another truck and then to me. Got the engine from 63bigwindow up there ^

Thanks. The engine originally came out of a 70 something Lincoln. Derek (63bigwindow) put the engine mounts and trans crossmember on there. Not sure where he got the engine mounts. You could shoot him a pm and see. Yes, I still have the 292.
