ive heard great things about Subarus.
Toyota may well be blown out of proportion, but they really are good vehicles. Change the oil and dont abuse them and they'll last 300k + with no terrible issues (well, like many of the other jap-mobiles). My Gpa sold an 85 truck several years ago with like 350k miles, rolled it once, and hammered it out (no further body work) and had a patchy white spraycan job, sold it for $2500 or more...
and I have backup saying that Taurai drive terrible! haha
and I dont know who was saying it, but I agree, I think the survivability of the slicks is pretty decent... as long as you got some good 3 point seatbelts, and dont flip it over. I bet the cab wouldnt do too well, but the rear corner pillars may be tougher than I give credit for.
Has anybody ever seen the results of rolling a slick? I wanna know how well they fare when landing on the roof.
Everybody now-a-days insists that you need airbags, collapsable frame, jettisonable engine, all the crap that makes your car disintegrate in a minor bender...
I disagree. If all that destruction was REALLY the way to go, Racecars wouldnt be built the way they are. (IE totally rigid, no planned crush zones, engines are supposed to stay in, and NO Airbags... ) they just have a Roll Cage, good bucket seats and 5 point harnesses. Are the consumer market cars built this way just to compensate for the fact that 99% of people would not wear a 5 point? Probably!
I like my non-collapsible truck. plans to make it even more non-collapsible.
