Made a little progress today on the console. I got the door for it bent up and fitted and the box for the console made. It may not sound like much but it kicked my tail trying to get the slide mechanism to work. Here are some pics of the progress. I hope to get the sides made and welded on some time next week.

Great looking console Red!, it really suites the seats!. Have you come up with a way to stop the bonnet tilting too far forward yet?
Honey, If I say I`ll fix something I will, there`s no need to remind me every 6 months!!

Alan, I did come up with a solution. I put some steel blocks on the rdiator core support and drilled and taped them/ I'm using a button head bolt for the tubing on the frame to rest on. I'll try and remember to get some pics to post the next time that I'm at the shop.

I used perforated aluminum from McMaster Carr. It is 14 ga with 3/16" holes. http://www.mcmaster.com/#perforated-metal/=c0sqfh
I used UHMW for the slides. I got it from McMaster Carr also. I used metal spacers to space the uhmw strips apart. If I had it to do over, I would have used another strip of uhmw. Hind sight is always 20/20. I'm working on the front bumper now. Reshaping the edges, sucking it up towards the grill and narrowing it. I also took the ridge out of the lower fender. Here are a couple of pics of where I am with it. It's a work in process. I've recut it 5 different times so far. I know what I want in my mind but having a hard time making it out of metal. I'll get there. I have lots and lots of patience.

No, I'm going to remove the tag section. I want the pointed end to be parallel with the fender. I may have to recess the fender to get what I'm looking for I'm debating applying some heat and seeing if i can bend it on around. Just not sure if I'll be able to keep a smooth radius. I think a 6 pack and some staring time will help with a workable solution. LOL

I'm not sure yet if I'll have to recess it into the fenders yet. I don't really want to but the point sticking out has to go. I'm not too fond of the look. I want to try and reshape the raduis but I'm not sure how that is going to work. Either way, it will be flush. On the flip side I did get some new goodies in this week. A set of polished billet pulleys and hardware. Considering the cost, I feel that its a pretty good milestone.

Thanks man. I have not seen that but did watch your link this morning. I had not thought of using another bumper to get what I wanted on the rounding part. Thats a good idea. Just goes to show that 2 heads are always better than one.rickairmedic wrote:Red I dont know if you have seen it or not but on a recent episode of Gearz ( with Stacy David ) .

I have it set to DVR but it hasn't recorded lately. I'll have to check into that. I like his program, he does some really neat stuff.rickairmedic wrote:Red Gearz is on speed every saturday and sunday morning here . He does more than just trucks but usually has some pretty cool styff on . He is doing a KILLER Cougar right now.
