That tank is for a Propane conversion possibly, since I just took one out of the 69 I got out of Az.. looks just like that with all those knobs,, Nice looking stock Merc average daily driver???

Yep it was definitely on Propane, or as Mac the Aussie calls it, Roo Juice. ;)
Was a huge fad in the late 70's to put vehicles on that, until it sometimes cost more than Texas Tea.

oh how nice to see Ellie May,, the tank we took out of that 69 had a tag on it made in 1956 for propane still have the tank here with propane in it,, couple of weeks ago while in Phoenix somebody was talking on getting a conversion done on a new truck and telling the radio host on how he was going to get around 2000 miles before fill up between gas and propane
