F100 truck tire size

Post by Mellvis »

I don't know much about tire sizes, but I want to get different size rear tires. I've got 235/75/15 on the rear and it's about right. I want to keep the15 inch wheels that I've got, I like the hight of the 235/75, but I think about an inch wider would be right. The question is, what tire would give me the same height and an inch wider tread?

You know you won't be able to rotate your tires with different front and rear sizes.
I found this chart,
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tiretech/ ... ?techid=53
According to it, a 255/70/15 is what your looking for but I would call a tire dealer just to be sure.

Here's a tire size calculator

You got that right
I got about 1/2" gap with no load. Pretty sure tires are going to rub if I load her down. :o
I'm running 275/60/15 on all four corners. I like a nice wide patch meeting the pavement 8)

Besides, they look funny with skinny tires on them. :P

Miata.net also has a nice visual-based tire calculator.

My truck had 205/60/15 when I got it. I like the width, but they are way to short. I was turning about 4,000 RPM on a 55 MPH highway to keep from getting ran over. I threw some 235/75/15 on the rear that I had laying around and we do much better now. I like the height but not the width.

Thanks for all of the links and advice. Merry Christmas from the mellvis household
