Welcome to the club! I can't help with the springs, though.

If it starts to rain, they'll tax the splash.
If you want to fish, they'll tax the bass.
If you plant a yard, they'll tax the grass.
If you don't play nice, they'll fine your *$#!

I looked at my glovebox door and the spring has been rigged up, hooks to the vent door area. Maybe someone here has one that is hooked up right! Welcome!

Welcome swampmeat! Glad you decided to check in. Now that you took me up on my offer to join here, have you checked out Fordification.com for your '70? I own a couple '71s myself.

I'll have to check out my '61 glove box door. I don't recall it having springs, but I haven't used it much.

Ok, I'm home now and I see the springs. Well, I felt for them. They are tucked up in there, that's for sure. It's kind of a spring like a safety pin and the opening of the "crow's mouth" faces the rear of the truck. There are a couple small holes the ends fit in to. Kinda hard to describe and I'm not too sure how to reach back up in there, but my truck's interior is not easy to get to right now.

Ya, I've been all over Fordification for a while now. But thanks anyway........That is how I tried to install my springs, but I think I need the glovebox insert to help hold them in place?

I put those in last summer. WOW was that a pain in the a$$. All I remember is spending most of the day cursing, walking away for a few hours and coming back to curse some more. I finally got them in and I wish I could tell you some great secret but I can't. As comet said the open end of the spring faces into the cab and you have to fit the ends of the spring into the little holes that are on the glove box door and under the dash. My glove box was in while I installed them but I don't think that makes any difference. If I remember right one end has a longer kink in it and that end needs to go into a hole first and then the other end. At least that's the way my springs were. I think I got them from Mac's Antique truck parts. I'm hoping these last another 42 years like the first ones. I probably didn't help much but good luck and welcome to the club! If I get time this weekend I'll try and take a pic of it but I'm not sure you'll be able to see much.

Here's some pics...although, not the greatest.

This is the right side (nearest the passenger door), with the glovebox door fully open.

Hope those help. :)

Cool, thanks for posting those pics Slick Fan. That's exactly what I pictured by feeling with my hands. It looks to me that taking the glove box insert out would be the way to go, but a2z64 said it didn't matter to him.

Note the strategic position of the blue bungee cord. :hm: This is very important. It must be blue!!! :D Otherwise all efforts to install springs are futile :rotflmao:

Welcome to the club Mr. Swampmeat!

Absolutely!
Notice also, how there's absolutely nothing holding the glovebox insert to the truck...it just sorta floats around in there at will, one good bump & all that stuff is now laying on the passenger's feet.

That's my kid's truck BTW, I would of had to unscrew the insert in mine to get decent pics. His was easier. :D

Wasn't that blue bungee cord original equipment for Slicks?
