How many trucks in your slick?

Post by Hoofbeat Racer »

I am borrowing it this thread from the good folks at Fordification. I am sure they won't mind, it sounds like fun. Let's say if it takes 2 hands or more to carry, that's classified as part of a truck. I'll start :hm:

title: 1966 F100 Ranger (also contributed interior)
body: 1966 F250 Custom Cab
chassis: 1976 Ford F150 (rear end 78)
engine/trans: 1976 Ford 150
rear sport bumper: 1979 Ford Bronco
tilt steering column: 1979 Ford F150

That's 6 different Ford trucks contributing major pieces :steering:

When I had the stepbox on my 66 short it had BODY parts from 9 different trucks. They were all different colors when I brought the thing home too. I still remember the phone call I got at work from my X when the flatbed dropped it off at home "this truck is uglier than your 64" (see my album and look at the "parts truck"). I'm not even going try to get into the chassis of that one. My 64 will be even worse, I don't even have a whole truck of parts yet and up to 18! :rotflmao:

I quit counting after 10. Seriously I know theres at least that many. I have had 3 parts trucks of my own and my uncles use to tell me to get all the parts off their junk trucks when they sold their slicks. So I have been lucky to get access to quite a few. Then I would get parts at junkyards. My truck has parts off slicks, galaxies, and 70s 4x4 trucks, ltds, etc. But like I said I quit counting after 10.

Ok, my '61 is less dramatic.
I'm not sure the year, but it has different fenders, hood and doors (3 different vehicles).
'71 390 from a T-bird
'61 Galaxie grill and lights.
'57 F100 wheels
Tranny is from an early 70s F250
I think that's it.

The little bit of history on mine indicates could be a dozen or so. The major cause was that it was stolen back in the eighties and when found, all that was left was the cab and chassis. The fellow I bought it from worked for a Ford dealer, had access to parts and the know how. He lost a brand new 428 w/ C-6 and all body parts, tires and wheels. HPD ran the VIN on the frame and contacted him a few weeks later.

How many donors went into my Slick huh. . . . . ? ? ? ? ? ? ? . . . . :hm: . . .Geez ! ..... :dontknow:

If I knew there was going to be a Quiz I'd have kept track from the beginning which was back in 73. . .
I'm going to say perhaps 10-12 total, & a couple "P-Cars" too come to think of it. . . . :dancing: :thumright: :steering:

5 in the basic structure & body w/out suspension, power or drive train. Since I've "re-done" it a few times over the last 30+years, some "stuff" has been lost to posterity. The original 240 I-6, the 3spd manual the 302 + C-4 and the 351W + C-4 are long gone. Then there were a couple incidents which resulted in damaged Sheet Metal & so forth. . . . . Time + Ch Ch Ch Changes    , y'all know how that goes I'm sure

I have stuff taken off F-100s thru F-350s from 1966s thru 1979s in it though! :thumright: :steering:

I have two slicks:

The 66 F100 is all the same truck to the best of my knowledge, but it was 40 years old when I got it.

The 65 F100 is just four that I know of:
Base truck - 65 F100
352 engine - 65 F250
9" rearend replaced when I was a kid and I don't remember the donor truck
Radiator - Rigged in from a 58 F100, not keeping it, it was laying there and the truck didn't have a radiator

The plans for now are to put my 65 F100 southern cab on the 66, and the bed from the 66 that got totaled on the same 66.

Hey Mark, I think something is askew here. The 429 was standard starting in '68 in T'birds. I remember this because I love that body style of T'bird.

Well my 66 4x4 started out when I got it in 1979, I had to change out the grill and both front fenders, each piece from a differant truck. Engine from a 67 Farlane GT 390ci 335hp. My oldest son hit a deer and rolled her over in the early 90's and had to rebody, cab and doors from 1 donor, each fender, grille, hood, upper grille piece, bumper, and bed from differant trucks. Two years later yougest son was t-boned, so a temp. bed was put on until new body was redeady. New body was a complete 65 F-100 2wd truck. With the new body inplace, youngest son runs over a Toyota car, so it gets another rt fender, grille, bumper. Had to make the left fender out of 2 fenders. She is now in one piece and painted, and my sons don't get to drive her anymore. So, let's see that makes 19, I think I may have missed some.

Fun thread! :thumright:

Ok, I've owned my 66 for a long time & can only vouch for what I've put onto it. The only thing I can really see that's not original to it before I got it is the passenger door...it used to be green.

It had the original 352 (in pieces) when I got it. I "rebuilt" it at age 16...it spun a bearing about a year later. :? Sooo...
Engine; 390 from a '70 LTD wagon.
Trans; original 4-speed
Rear end; 9" 3:50 gears from a 75 F100 4x4
Left fender; 66 donor truck
Hood; take your pick, I have three.
Inner fenders; rust free, from 66 donor truck (different one)
Rad support; rust free, from same as inner fenders.
Disc brakes & m/cyl; 76 F150
Various new aftermarket parts.

So, 4 trucks & one car are into my '66. :D ...so far.

My '65, I've only owned for a little over a year & haven't touched it. The only thing I can see that's been changed is the air cleaner & the tailgate. It came with the original 16" 5-hole rims (funky), with four flats & no hubcaps.
My "Slickitis" affliction began here...

Uh....... err ah, I don't think I can count that high.
I ran out of fingers and toes; but I promise the number of donors is far less than BroncoTom's.
Lets just say Nadine is the sum total of all of her parts...... so far.
U@ss
I'm not arguing with you. I'm just explaining why I'm right.

HELLO! What was I thinking? It's a '68 T-Bird Motor, 315 hp. I don't know how many times I've done that. Probably because my '71 F250 has a 390 and I've had that for years and I'm just used to saying it. Thanks for straightening me out!
