Driving songs????

Post by Casey 65 »

OK Guys & Gals....
What are your favorite driving songs :?:

Those songs you crank-up and drive... :steering: :rocker:

Like "Take it to the Limit" or "Freebird" or "Highway to Hell" or "Born to be Wild" or even "Shut Down" ?????

What do you like to listen to while you "Can't Drive 55" ?

It's a toss up in my mind if the Cult's "She sells sanctuary"
or Golden Earring's "Radar Love" is the best driving song ever, but it's a close race IMO
It's a race.. Will hell freeze over or will JC finish his truck first. Stay tuned..

I gotta go with the Smokey And The Bandit theme song. Every time I drive east, it automatically pops in my head.
What's in the garage at any given moment?

I'll have to go with Dire Straits "Walk of Life". Back when I was selling Pontiacs in upstate NY, I used to sneak a 6000STE off the lot and take a "very quick trip" down to the DMV to pickup plates, accompanied by that song.

Some of those songs could be dangerous when I was driving the 03 Volvo with the Cummins ISX - they make you want to keep mashin pedal and smashin gears! The pink truck JC liked to poke fun at was good for at least 100 MPH and 70-75 MPH on a 5-6% grade with 40,000 on it! I am still amazed to this day I didn't get ticket in that rig, lol.

3 CDs I always keep on hand in my truck for driving long distances ( like from Philly to Boston and back):

"Dirt Track Date" by Southern Culture on the Skids
"Best of Sun Rockabilly" a collection of some cool rockabilly and J. Cash
"Big Waves" a surf instrumental collection-- love surf instrumentals like Dick Dale's "Miserlou" and the Venture's "Walk Don't Run"-- everytime I hear them I wish I could play them better on the guitar.

Rich
(oh yeah I just turned 50...guess that puts me in the "easy listening " crowd. I DID just get an offer in the mail today to join AARP ...)

I discovered from this thread that I have more in common with Uncle Skip, (14 years my senior and never ever appears at a Slickstock) than i ever thought possible. I still stick by my original choices for #1 and #2 tho.

i dare you to get in a vehicle and keep your foot off the floor listening to this

Yeah I like every cut on that CD. I picked up a demo CD from YepRoc Records -Demolition Derby-- that has a great SCOTS song on it, "Doublewide"; which CD is that from? I got the Demolition Derby CD from a friend who works at a radio station. Has a nice cut from a group called the Two Dollar Pistols too, never heard anything else from them though...
