I got pointed over from FTEF here by a member. Looks good. I just bought a 1964 F-100 4X4 w/4 speed top loader. Body/Chassis has very little rust (out of N CA). 292 was rebuilt once and runs ok but rich. Exhaust (dual) is shot and hanging by wire. Glass good, but side windows need runners/rubber. Rear end seal leaks. Front end loose and needs work (tie rods). Needs shocks too. I want to drive it every day, but can't until I get the brake lights working. I think the pressure switch on the prop. valve is bad and I have ordered a new one. I do not get 12v out of it when the brake is pressed.

Any suggestions on good bucket seats to use? I saw a nice setup here using Escort GT seats, but the year was not specified. Any suggestions on things I should take care of first. I can only throw a little $ at it per month.

Hey Dave. Welcome to the BEST place to get the RIGHT information on your slick.

Do you want to go to what was available, stock? You could order these trucks with buckets, they were the appropriate year Mustang bucket seats on special bracket adapters for the trucks and Broncos. This guy makes the brackets.

and they look like this, installed

There are several methods you can use to mount a brake switch out of a newer truck in your vehicle and get rid of that hydraulic one. check the tips and tricks section to start, or go here http://www.fordtruk.com/index61.html
It's a race.. Will hell freeze over or will JC finish his truck first. Stay tuned..

I hate to admit it, but I been driving mine ever since I bought it back in november with nary a brake light in sight. took a 4-5 hour trip to get it home too. I dont use it as my daily driver however. I've probably only put 500 miles on it since I bought it. about half of that was the trip home too heh.

I posted the ebay pics the PO took in personal albums. Search for "nuwave". The only change so far was ripping off the 200LB bumper. I kept the stock one. As far as bucket seats, I want to install modern ones. I need to take into account water/mud may get one them. I do plan to have some fun with this thing!

The front end concerns me at this point. I can move the tie rods easily up and down. There is a pop when I turn sharply also. It steers real easy..almosts too easy. I Jacked up the front and wiggled the wheels back and forth with no obvious slop. Everything has a grease fitting with 5 pounds of old grease on each. Maybe I am worried about nothing, just don't want to have the thing come apart while driving.

I DO want to drive it daily

Hey Dave, :welcome:

I see you made the trip here alright huh? Welcome to Slick 60s Forum page. . . .

I don't think your chain will get jerked so bad here. Info on here is pretty straight forward & correct. Not a lot of newbie or wannabe wrong info, if ya get my drift. . .

I gotta Ask where abouts in Broward do ya drive a 4X4?

We left Davie, FL. when the ol' cow trail that's now University was getting Paved. Mamma was @ DOF Office in Davie as Urban Forester & Haitians washed up on the beach nitely. That was 80ish. :P

Welcome,

When you get around to fixing the rear axle leaks, don't forget to check that the vent tube (screwed into the drivers side axle tube) is not plugged. There's a small hole that should go all the way through. They get plugged and pressure builds up in axle when it gets hot, forcing even new seals to leak. Cheap fix. Also, my seals were hard as rocks and were around $5 a piece at the local parts store.

Have fun.

John.

Hey welcome to the best Slick site on the net.

As for buckets I just put in a set out of a 99 Escort. They set real nice. Had a set of brackets broke out sheet metal. No slide adjustment but it fits me at 6'3" and my wife at 5'5".
