I have said it before, but that Keith over there is just AWESOME. If there was ever an example on how to run a Ford truck site, he sure set the bar.
It's a race.. Will hell freeze over or will JC finish his truck first. Stay tuned..

I see one thing on the wheel bases no mention of the 4x4 trucks & their 120" WB. Lots of info there.

Wikipedia promotes improvement/expansion to the site. Perhaps some like Brian, Tom etc. could compile some basic Slick information and we cold submit it.
"Slick" would become an official term aside form here too.

What the goofball from above the border said.
We really should have something like that here. It takes time to put that together though.

I just finished doing a bunch of measurements on bed dimensions for long beds for fitment of tonneaus and bedliners. I just have to confirm some fitments and I'll put something together for that. Short beds will have to wait until warmer weather now.

I'll start it
A Slick is a truck from Ford in the year range of 1961-1966. If you own one you are cool and should belong to Slick 60's.

I think it needs one but you see why I can't be writing it LOL

Several points I will bring up on this subject :

I agree with JC That Keith has a great site over there BUT

Do not like at least last time I Looked that in order to contribute you had to have 250 miniumn posts so person like me means that until I get 250 posts I basically have nothing to contribute for 67-72 trucks and have had the feeling like until I know 67-72 Trucks more or less keep my mouth shut, Now I do know like JC , Brian and a whole lot others have a lot of posts here but some over there they flaunt it like a ritual or the on a ego trip in the 5 digits they have and these ones with the 5 digits look upon others as low lifes,, I have had several come by our shop and tell us that feeling so its something that is not just my imagination, +++ I have had a few over there that will post looking for something big and heavy and just ignore with us even bringing it to Calif. to him well if he found it OK if not somebody In Canada now has it and was glad, there is many stories I have found what some of those members are really like but another whole story anyway,,, if they really where concerned with post wonder why I do not even have a 100 in almost 5 years, enough of that

Anyway back to this subject whether its a new member or old should not be no restrictions on this since a lot of members do have valuable HANDS ON information instead of this book information so Bottom line is thatcan be good here

you know that he is doing that to keep every TOM, dick, and harry from mucking up the wiki. lol

i couldn't resist tom. since that site has been up, i don't think anyone but keith has contributed.
you might try pm'ing him. i'll bet he'll make an exception.

actually, i have to defend keith a little here. he has hands on info. maybe not 100's of trucks, but he has several projects going and has parted and taken apart lots of trucks. most of the pics in his tech pages are his or members that have contributed.
and i am one of those five star ranked members and i have never talked down to anyone or been involved in a thread or conversation with anyone that has.
in fact the few times i have seen inappropriate stuff i have pm'd the person and asked politely for them to chill.
i think keith has done a pretty good job for a one man operation and hasn't fucked it all up with ads and stupid restrictions. all he asks is that we stay on topic in the right forums and to police ourselves in language and behavior.
sorry for the rant tom, but i felt that had to be said.

You got that right Tom. Sometimes it's the least experienced guy (or gal) that comes up with the coolest trick just because of fresh perspective. I know I can get temporarily too hung up on won't work to see what can work sometimes.

Greg I take many pictures of trucks in a year and keep that in the back of my mind thats the contibutions I look for, of course some of these builders of trucks have some of the wildest things to be done to a truck,,, I have seen some of the ideas from members that are like WOW, and not just have to be a male member, some of the female members as well + some of the wives I have met really get into trucks in all years

Oh yes Chris,, Keith does have a great site with work and what he does with the site a lotto do and a lot of info there on 67-72 trucks but with so many members its hard to police and yes if we go to a site with all those ads its just more trouble to get to the real truth on finding out what we want to know and Chris I have seen some things over there I just sit back and watch, also have seen other sites where the ego on posts are high priority like a reward but have not seen it once here

Greg anyway back to this subject post its great idea,, its like say bringing a truck in going over it to see if its what the book says its suppose to be say wheel bases heres one thing does not pertain to 61-66 but does
pertain to 53-56 trucks look closely at wheelbases on a short bed, its not whats its advertise as things like that is what I am talking about

Keith has probably the best one-man site of any site I have ever seen by any one individual. Bonus, it’s a Ford truck site. No mistaking it for some BS hybrid crap site, it's a Ford truck site. He and the members make that VERY clear to those who do not care to comply. He has more than 3 times the members of Slick60s. Having said that, I don’t think there is the type of camaraderie there that we have here among the core group of members. They have never really had anything to compare to Slickstock to cement those relationships. They also don’t have the regular chatroom crowd (or at least didn’t until recently) that we had that began that whole thing.

What he does have is excellent, excellent how-to articles, filed in an orderly manner. So there isn’t an endless stream of newbies coming on, and asking how to do this or that, and why isn’t this the same as that. I thought I would scream the 15,000th time a guy came on here and asked about a Mustang 2 clip, but I surprised myself and just quitely shut the computer off. Compared to what Dane started here, we haven’t really got much in the way of organized how to’s or tech articles here at all, perhaps just a hundred rehashes of the exact same thing. I don’t think there has ever been a tech article added since Dane left the site. The difference is partly because Keith had a vendetta against FTE in the beginning, but he far surpassed them years ago. We have no one with the motivation, time, and tech savvy here to do what Keith does, so we are different. We have the build threads, they are quite unique.

Still I admire his site. I rarely post there anymore, since I don’t have a bump, anymore. But if I need some twin I tech, I am all over that place. I bet I have posted parts of his inny and outie wheel article close to a hundred times, because there is nothing like that here and no way to even create it. Steering columns, engine info, and year specific differences and options, are really cool reading too. So hats off and Merry Christmas to Fordification. Long may they run. :thumright:

JC, you called that right on.

i was a huge bump addict before i got my 1st slick. that was in my pre-internet days.

sure glad my wife talked me into a change of ford trucks, otherwise i might never have found slick60s. after the last slickstock (my first) i believe i would have missed out on one of the best groups of people one could hang out with.

my skills are in the shop and garage, not on the computer or i might take a crack at slickwiki.
