Tailgate is back from the sand blaster.

Image

shrinking disc came in the mail today and I gave it a whirl.Didn't take but about 30 minutes of that for me to get tired of that S.
here it is after that 1/2 hr. of disc and hammer and dolly work

Image

I just put a coat of primer on for now to stop any flash rust until I can get one of my boys over here. He can run the disc and I'll do the hard part like slapping the cold wet rag on it LOL.

Image

Its straight enough that a little filler would straighten it out but I'm gonna try to get it as straight a possible so there will be minimal filler used.

Funny you should ask that FT.The guy I talked to about powder coating said he couldn't fill rust pits so I have been painting the rims and bumpers.took him 2 rims to sand blast the other day and wanted them blasted white on the front and just clean up the backs a little.went to pick them up and he said would be about another 1/2 hr. they were still in the oven.I asked why did he have to put them in the oven just to blast them and he said I thought you wanted them white.well they came out so good I'm gonna go back and powder coat the front rims and the bumpers.

Image

But that wasen't what you wanted to know about was it? I cleaned up that bumper I got from you and had to do some welding on the left side to fill some deep rust pits that were hideing under the paint.got it painted and installed but gonna pull it and have it powder coated now that I know P coating can hide small pits.

Image

Dosen't look like the same bumper you sent me does it?

Haven't posted in over a year it seems. mainly because my camera took a dump. Ron came over today with limestone and we proceeded to tear the dash apart on my truck. took us most of the day to get it sanded and primed.Ron took some pic's and I'll post them as soon as he gets them to me.

this is some things I've done but not posted.
pulled the 292 and installed a 300 6cyl.
efi manifolds, clifford intake with the carb from the 292.
it has an efi head for now.
I have a carbby head in the shop getting ported and bigger valves.
the walker down pipe for the efi manifolds came out right in the middle of the rear cross member.
had a custom exhaust bent for it. 2 inch pipes back to a magnaflow 2 in 1 out muffler. Then 2 1/2 inch out behind the rear wheel
new radiator with 2 12 inch fans mounted on a piece of aluminum for now, just needs triming up.

Glad to see the pics you posted 'Robert'. They turned out better then i thought and all without havin to zoom anything in.

Image

Here is a partial pic of Sherman. Roberts 61 F-350. I love the one tons and Sherman is a prime example if there ever was one.

Image

I took a few of these whilst Robert was messin around with the air compressor.

Image

This little air tool took most of the workload off.

Image

I wanted to snap a few before and after shots but wound up with mostly after. In any event it was a thrill to work on this old truck.

More to come.

H---, Robert, just be glad that "next guy" just keeps showing up :P Now if you could just get him off the tailgate and back to work, all would be well!
BTW, that's one strange air compressor in the photo :?

been quite a while since I had to do anything to sherman. What started out as a head change ended up in the machine shop for a total rebuild of the engine. Was gonna swap a carby head in place of the FI head but the cyl walls were scored and found out the crank was toast.

Man, those are some pretty rockers. What valve cover gasket is that? It looks far more substantial than my cork one.
