Got the new engine fired up and broke in the cam according to the spec sheet that came with it. I've never held an engine at 2000 rpm for 30 minutes before but it held together. Sounds like a different engine. The exhaust sounds deeper and stronger. The harland sharp roller rockers fit under the stock valve cover with only 2 places on the oil fill baffle that had to be dented in. I sold my old place to my son and bought a house in winter haven. The truck has been out at his place until I got it running. Went to get it last sunday and bring it home. Ran fine for half the way and then went dead. The fuel pump had been acting up before the rebuild so I played with the ignition switch and leap frogged it almost home. About 5 blocks from the house it went dead and would not restart so I had my son in law push me the last few blocks home with his Hyundai a very embarrassing moment to be sure. I had a fuel filter between the tank and pump and between the pump and carb but still managed to get a fine rust powder in the carb. New tank from DC is on the way and new fuel pump from summit. Now its just a waiting game. -

parts came in from summit today. Got the carb spacer and throttle cable put on and working. Had to take the gas peddle off the firewall and shoot it with penetrating oil to get it freed up and working. It had gotten stiff and would not return all the way, Got the fuel pump replaced and plumbed in now just waiting on the gas tank to get here monday.
