Newb with some questions

Let me start by saying sorry if these questions have been beat to death.

I just bought a 1965 Ford 3/4 ton, 352.... 4 speed long bed for $500.00. Not the best pics because they are with a cell phone

Now before I bought the truck I was told it was a 1/2 ton so I had allready made some plans. Now that I know its 3/4 ton I need some help.
My plans were to flip the rear with a notch, and use DJM beams up front. I was going to bag the truck so at ride height it would have good camber but still be able to drop her down when parked. So....

1. Will the DJM beams work with a 3/4 ton?

2. My plans were to run some steelies with WWW. I know I can find some steelies that are 8 lug no problem, but should I swap it out to 5 lug? I know I could find a rear to swap and I was wondering since I can piece together a front disc swap if it would be better to just run 5 lug?

3. If I stay 8 lug, will 15" rims clear or do I need to run the 16's?

Any help would be greatly appreciated on this..... I know this probably isnt the ideal model to go with but for the price, its what I have

you are lucky as hell to find a truck in that good of shape for 500 dollars.

Welcome to Slick 60s.
Good looking truck you have there.
The route you want to go - just convert it to an F 100.
You will need a five bolt rear axle, and F 100 front end. I'd just get the spindles etc. from a 76-79 150 and do a disc brake swap at the same time. None of this should be hard to find or expensive. The frame and mounting points on it are the same for a F 100 or F 250 I believe.

Welcome from the Portland, Oregon area. Looks like a fine truck, especially considering the initial cost. What are your plans for the drivetrain?
I converted a '66 F-250 to 5 lug suspension a coulpe years back. Just follow Greg D's advice. With the right parts it is almost all nuts and bolts.

Thanks for making me feel welcome guys....

Roger.... my plans are to start gathering parts before I even think about tearing into this. I have decided on a 5 lug conversion.... along with DJM beams up front, shackle flip in the rear with a notch along with an air ride setup. I love how these trucks look sittin low but im not willing to run the camber you get with it. With this in mind I will be able to drive lifted and drop her when parked. For wheels and tires just something in the nature of 15" steelies along with some WWW's.
The drivetrain, I like the 352 with the 4 speed combo so Im going to retain that. Ill pull the motor and do a full rebuild on her along with some old school valve covers, and an intake and carb combo. Nothing too drastic other than a nice cam.
Interior isnt getting much either... set of low back buckets and a little elbow grease and thats about it.
The body is where I havent completely decided. I love nicely painted trucks but its just not me. I would like to retain the factory paint but I need to replace the fenders and tailgate so im sure it will be mutiple colors. Still deep in thought about that one.

Question guys. Won't Hooligan need a new drive shaft, or at least need to rework the end on the back part of his two piece driveshaft if he replaces the 8 lug (Dana 60?) axle with a 5 lug Ford 9" rear?

Thanks dotcentral.... I figured I would have to rework the drive shaft. Luckily I have a local guy who has been building them for years. I figure if I bring the old half shaft in, along with a 9" yoke and some measurements, I can let him do his magic.

that is a real nice truck i do know from past experience that you can put the 1/2 ton suspension right to the 3/4 springs but the drive shaft for the 3/4 will be 4" shorter than the 1/2 one
