I had a 74 F100 when I was in college and noticed a smell for about a week like something died. Kept getting worse until I noticed a flattened, dead frog on top of my fresh air vents cooking in the hot Texas sun. Mmmmmmmm good I tell you!

Thanks for the information guys, I've replaced the thermstat, heater core, hoses and radiator. I'm going to replace the thermostat and see if that helps.
